Adley Rutschman C BAL
Ok, so you want more homers from Adley...but he's squaring up the ball at 38% and only whiffing at a 13%, so as Axl Rose once said...Patience. Rutschman also sports an xOBP of .385 in concert with a nifty 14% BB Rate, so the times on base should continue. In addition, Adley owns an xSLG of .508 means more extra bases should come along. Oooh, yeah, oo-ooh, yeah! In other words, the counting stats should come from the young catcher, so sit back and enjoy the oncoming onslaught of goodness.
Spencer Torkelson 1B DET
Sweetspot (48% Sweet Spot Rate) Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI on Saturday. Torkelson is coming alive with .314/.419/.647 through 14 games this season with four homers and 10 RBI. The 93 MPH average exit velocity supports that he may be not only finding the sweet spot of the bat, his career might be returning in line with the high prospect rating he once warranted. Ride the wave.
Luis Robert OF CHW
Robert went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Red Sox. Robert's line is currently: .178/.269/.267 with one home run, four RBI and seven runs scored over 54 PA thus far in 2025. His 6 SBs top the AL but the rest of the numbers are unsightly. Is there hope? Yes, as Shandler says, once you have a skill you own it...but only his bat speed has the peripherals to reveal the stud we once knew: a 76 MPH bat speed is great but his K rate is 26% and 31% Whiff Rate is not so good. Hope for the best, prepare for the not all that good.
Jorge Polanco DH SEA
A 52% Sweet Spot Rate and a miniscule 9% K Rate means Polanco is hitting quite well, and this time we hope it's natural. Switch-hitting Polanco is expected to continue hitting exclusively right-handed. Though just 31 ABs in 2025, Polanco is hitting .419, with 3 dingers, 12 RBI, three runs scored and one stolen base. Though continuing at such a pace is impossible, dropping him is equally impossible. Read my lips: Sell high!
Sean Murphy C ATL
Murphy went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and a walk in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Rays. Since starting his 2025 on Tuesday, the 30-year-old has gone 5-for-15 with 3 long balls, six RBI and four runs scored over 18 PAs. Early on, he's hitting the ball 67% Sweet Spot and absurdly high 17% Barrel Rate, not sustainable but very good. Enjoy the ride and keep this catcher. However, if you MUST trade him for pitching help...do it ASAP.
