Am I in heaven? No, it's Oakland's outfield.
Brent Rooker OF OAK
If you drafted Rooker, congrats: along with the 24 HR, he's slashing .289/ 366/.578/.944. If you dig red, he's 91st percentile or higher in six categories dedicated to knocking the hell out of the baseball. Rooker could be traded, perhaps as far as to an NL team, so your only worry is if you have him in AL-only or if the juice suddenly runs dry in a different lineup or if they deploy him differently. You wanna sell high? Go for it, but it could be one of those regrets.
Lawrence Butler OF OAK
The Butler did it: over the last 75 ABs, Lawrence has 9 dingers, 4 SBs and has hit .514 over the last two weeks if you concern yourself with such arcane measures as batting average. Butler has the fancy numbers to back up the good numbers, he's sitting at 52% hard hit rate and a 93 MPH average exit velocity, so there's no reason the goodness shouldn't keep on coming off the bat of Butler. The only caveat being, of course, is that Oakland could do something unfathomably dumb like send him down after a rough series, and pull some Estery Ruiz nonsense, but we can't control that, can we?
Max Schuemann OF OAK
Who's Max Schuemann and how is he creeping to a 10 HR 10 SB season after only 239 ABs? If you have an informative answer to that question, you're likely enjoying Max to the max. Another unlikely Oakland outfielder putting up gaudy numbers in 2024, he can verify his success with a 39% sweet-spot rate along with a keen eye, as evident by his 11.4% BB rate. Again, as an Oakland A his future's uncertain and the end is always near...but for now, let it roll, baby roll!
Tyler Fitzgerald SS/OF SFG
There is no way to explain "The Week of Tyler Fitzgerald" without resorting to a rewrite of Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald":
When summertime came, the old rook came on deck sayin'
"Giants, here comes five straight you believe it"
At 7pm another right pitch came in Fitz said
"Fellas, it's good to blast dingers"
Tyler locked in another homer comin' And the next pitch it was in peril
Later the next night hit a ball outta sight
It was the week of the Tyler Fitgerald
Five home runs in five games to go along with 7 SBs, .316 BA .and .993 OPS over his initial 98 ABs in 2024 is enough to get anyone singing, just don't count on the sweet sounds to continue for at least two reasons: 1, playing for the Giants leads to uncertainty for AB and playing time. 2, no one stays this hot for this long, especially whoever the heck this guy is and 3, do you really want another folk song about this guy (you listening, Tricky Henderson)?
Brenton Doyle OF COL
Doyle is knocking on the door of 20HR and 20 SB, not to mention a fine .279 BA and an OPS of .822. The 26-year old is tapping into the Rocky Mountain high potential in 2024 and there's no reason to believe he'll slow down in the second half...oh wait, he strikes out too much and doesn't walk enough. He's a tough nut to crack because the homers and steals are there, so even if the 25% K Rate and 8.4 BB Rate scare you off, his overall skillset says decent times should continue. Sell high? Rocky mountain high.
