Kyle Schwarber, DH, PHI
Schwarber went 2 for 4 with a pair of solo shots and a pair of strikeouts. This is the kind of game we like to see from Scwarbs. However, the powerful lefty has been more often found pummeling the ball into the ground rather than lifting it into the seats this season. His 29.8% LA Sweet-Spot% ranks in the 21st percentile and his 42.9% is well above the 34.4% mark he posted a season ago. The rest of his game is right where we are used to seeing it. With a 92.7 avg Exit Velo and 52.8% Hard-Hit%, he is hitting the ball extremely hard. He is still walking a ton (15.9% BB%) and striking out plenty (28.5% K%). He just can't seem to get the launch angle. Schwarber has been productive enough to utilize in fantasy, but his 13 homers are far off pace for the mid-40s mark he has produced the past two seasons.
Steven Kwan, OF, CLE
Kwan collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in two on Tuesday night. He has been putting on a hitting clinic since his return from the IL (hamstring) earlier this month. The 26-year-old is hitting .520 (13-25) and has hit in all seven games since his return. His average is now up to .380 on the season with a 9.6% BB% and 7.9% K%. Kwan continues to be a contact king. His K% (99th percentile), 6.1% Whiff% (100th), and 18.6% Chase% (95th) are all elite. Of course, he hits the ball extremely soft (19.9% Hard-Hit% in the 1st percentile), but his incredible 29.6% LD% and 41.8% LA Sweet-Spot% make it work. Kwan is a premier table setter, though it's a little disappointing that he has only swiped three bags on seven attempts this season.
Jameson Taillon, SP, CHC
Taillon tossed 6.0 innings of shutout ball in Tampa on Tuesday night. He fanned five with one walk and gave up four hits on 91 pitches. Taillon badly needed a clean outing after giving up 3+ runs in five consecutive starts, including five on ten hits his last time out against the lowly White Sox. With a career-low 92.5 vFA, the 32-year-old hasn't displayed much in the swing-and-miss department this season. His 17.6% Whiff% ranks in the 6th percentile while his 16.5% K% ranks in the 12th. Positively, Taillon doesn't give up many free passes (6.1%) and his 5.5% Barrel% is a vast improvement over the 10.7% he had a season ago. He has been better this season, and his current 3.09 ERA certainly can attest to that. However, the lack of stuff combined with a 3.68 xERA and 4.34 xFIP indicate that his ERA won't hang around the 3.00 mark long.
Tanner Scott, RP, MIA
Scott fanned three across two perfect innings to secure his eighth save of the season. He also has five wins on the campaign with a minuscule 1.30 ERA, making him a useful relief arm in roto and category leagues. The Southpaw's 82.5 avg exit velo is tops in the league while his Hard-Hit%, Barrel%, Whiff%, and xBA all rank in 84th or better. Scott's single drawback (besides being a Marlin) is that his 6.18 BB/9 is one of the worst walk rates in the majors. Still, he has proven to be a weapon out of the fins' pen and will get the lion's share of the vital late-inning work for the foreseeable future.
Aaron Judge, OF, NYY
Judge went 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBI on Tuesday, giving him four homers over his past three games. If you didn't know, the 32-year-old is on a tear as of late. Over the past ten games, he has eight multi-hit efforts, seven homers, and 21 RBI. Oh, he also has three SBs in that stretch and has walked ten times compared to six strikeouts. Judge is slashing an absurd .309/.437/.712 to go along with a league-high 25 homers and 62 RBI this season.
