Anthony Santander- OF- BAL- Hot- Santander slugged 2 homers yesterday to give him 17 for the season. He has hit 8 homers so far in the month of June. Santander started slow in 2024 but his EV and HardHit% have picked up in this power surge. Before yesterday his EV for the month was 91.1 and HardHit% was 42.2%. Santander is looking more like the player that hit 28 homers last year and 33 in 2022.
Luis Rengifo- 2B- LAA- Hot- Rengifo went 2-for-4 with his 18th steal of the season. He is now slashing .315/.360/.437 for the season. Rengifo is overperforming in his average and SLG as his xBA was .259 and his xSLG was .344 before yesterday. His main value lies in his speed and versatility. Rengifo has played at 2B, 3B, and SS this season and with his play in 2023 is eligible for at least some OF as well.
Jack Flaherty- P- DET- Hot- Flaherty tossed 5 scoreless IP against the Astros yesterday, allowing 3 hits and a walk while striking out 6. It was his second consecutive scoreless outing of 5 IP against a Texas team. Flaherty gave up 2 hits and no walks while striking out 4 Rangers on June 4. He had skipped a turn in the rotation with back tightness. With a lead of 11-0, Flaherty was treated conservatively yesterday. He evened his record to 4-4 and now has a 3.01 ERA. He is actually underperforming his metrics, as his FIP is 2.61 and xFIP is 2.17. Flaherty's 11.64 K/9 and 1.24 BB/9 are better than he has finished any season. He has been very consistent, posting quality starts in 9 of his 13 outings. Flaherty has no career trends for first and second half performances. Right now he is looking like he is peaking at his age 28 season.
Erick Fedde- P- CHW- Hot- Fedde ran his record to 5-1 with the woeful White Sox by giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, walking no one, and striking out 6 in 6 IP. His ERA is at 3.09 which, while lower than his FIP of 3.44 and xFIP of 3.50, is not that far below them. Fedde has posted quality starts in 7 of his last 11 outings so has been showing consistently lately. He is having his best season of his career but he is posting career bests in BB/9 and ERA as well as close to his best ever in K/9. Fedde is on pace to surpass the most MLB IPs he has thrown in a season. He has returned from a season in the KBO much improved.
Hunter Goodman- 1B- COL- Hot- Goodman was playing C last night when he went 4-for-5 with 2 homers. He has also played RF this season. While he is not a full time player he may get more playing time as he has 4 homers in 73 PAs. Goodman is slashing .203/.247/.449. A .222 BABIP is impacting the average while a 2.7% BB%, well below his numbers in the minors, is keeping his OBP down. Goodman slashed .298/.352/690 in 91 PAs at AAA Albuquerque. Power is his main tool and he has been developing his hitting skills. All of Goodman's homers have come at Coors Field and he is with a team that can maximize his assets. He should evolve into a player with more playing time.
