Brice Turang- 2B- MIL- Hot- Turang stole his 19th base of the season yesterday. He has not been caught since July 4 of last year and is working on a string of 36 successful steals. Turang is slashing .301/.356/.429 so is contributing other than in the steal column. He has a .341 BABIP, but with his speed regression won't be as hard on him as it might be for others. He had higher BABIPs in some of his minor league stops.
MJ Melendez- OF- KC- Cold- Melendez has only 13 hits in his last 110 PAs. For the season he is slashing .177/.229/.340. Melendez has 4 homers, but only one since April 9. His .220 BABIP is certainly hampering him. His Statcast numbers aren't horrible, with a 90.8 EV, 40.8% HardHit%, and 9.7% Barrel%. It looks like regression will be his friend.
Blake Treinen- RP- LAD- Idea- For leagues that count holds, Treinen is back to having the value he had before injuries kept him out of the last two seasons. In his 7 appearances this season since he returned on May 5th he has 3 holds. Treinen has yet to allow a run in his 6.2 IP and has given up 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. If he can work his way into the closer role Treinen's value will go up universally.
Hunter Greene- P- CIN- Hot- Greene allowed 1 run on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 5 in 6 IP yesterday. It dropped his ERA down to 3.06, with his FIP at 3.18 and xFIP at 3.98. Greene has improved on his 3.86 BB/9 of 2023 as it stands at 3.48 this season. His K/9 has dropped from 12.21 to 9.88. If that's the price for Greene's HardHit% going down from 43.4% to 31.1% and EV from 90.0 to 87.2 then it's worth it. This was Greene's 3rd consecutive quality start and 5th of the season in 11 outings. He had 7 quality starts in his 22 outings in 2023. His consistency has improved.
LaMonte Wade, Jr.- 1B- SF- Player Injury- Wade was out of the starting lineup after tweaking his hamstring Friday night. He was able to enter as a pinch hitter in the 9th, singled in the tying run, and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. It didn't look like the hamstring was a factor. For the season Wade is slashing .333/.472/.421 in 163 PAs. He has exhibited fantastic plate discipline with a chase rate of 19.2% and SwStr% of 7.1%. Wade's overall Swing% is 36.2%. He has a 20.2% BB%, but his K% is 20.9%. That is a result of a 20.3% CStr%. Wade will not swing at a lot of balls, but he will also let a lot of strikes go by. He only has 2 homers, which seems low for a player with a 91.3 EV and 45.2% HardHit%. Wade's .435 BABIP makes his average unsustainable but his power numbers are likely to improve.
