Aaron Judge- OF- NYY- Stats- Injuries have greatly impacted Judge in 2023. His slash line of .259/.394/.588 with 32 homers in 406 PAs are very good but not up to the standard he set in 2022 of .311/.425/.686 with 62 homers in 696 PAs. All other things being equal, though, Judge may be performing better than he did last year. His .290 BABIP is well below his .338 career norm. Judge's 97.3 EV is a career high, as is his 63.2% HardHIt%. He has an xBA of .279 and xSLG of .694. Judge will probably merit the same attention in next year's drafts as he did this year, if he has a health Spring.
Willy Adames- SS- MIL- Stats- Adames has had struggles this season with a slash line of .212/.302/.406. He has slugged 24 homers, his third straight season with at least that many. He has been the victim of bad luck. He has a .248 BABIP and his xBA is .242 while his xSLG is .450. Last year Adames' AVG was .238, equal to his xBA. His SLG was.458, close to his .451 xSLG. His xBA and xSLG this year are close to his 2022 numbers. Adames is a candidate to bounce back in 2024.
Dylan Cease- P- CHW- Stats- Cease's 2023 season has been disappointing. Projected to have a 3.12 ERA it is sitting at 4.87. He has pitched better than that, with an FIP of 3.89. Cease also has a K/9 of 10.81. His velocity had dropped below 96 mph but recently it has been over that level. He has a good chance to bounce back in 2024.
Jesus Luzardo- P- MIA- Stats- Luzardo has posted a respectable 3.82 ERA, very close to his 3.73 FIP and 3.75 xFIP. Last year Luzardo had a 3.32 ERA and 3.12 FIP with a 3.11 xFIP. He improved his BB/9 from 3.14 to 2.75. His K/9 stayed close to last year, dropping slightly from 10.76 to 10.44. Luzardo should be an asset in ERA and Ks in 2024.
Seiya Suzuki- OF- CHC- Stats- Suzuki has improved a bit in his sophomore season. He is slashing .277/.345/.475 with 18 homers in 524 PAs. Suzuki has a .278 xBA while his xSLG is lower than his SLG at .451. He outperformed his xBA and xSLG in 2022. Suzuki's EV has increased from 89.6 to 91.3 and his HardHit% has gone up to 47.6% from 40.3%. There has been no sophomore slump and Suzuki is establishing himself as a consistent performer and should be considered as such in 2024.
