Spencer Turnbull, SP, DET
Turnbull no-hit the Mariners on Tuesday night in Seattle. He surrendered just two walks and struck out nine in the contest. Turnbull has been solid this season, but he really put it all together in this one. The gem dropped his ERA from 3.91 to 2.88 for the campaign. The 28-year-old's success in 2021 has stemmed from his ability to get ahead of hitters and make them chase pitches off the plate. His 67.0% F-Strike% and 35.3% O-Swing% are career-best marks that have him giving up a stingy 2.10 BB/9 rate (also a career-best). He is currently owned in 10.1% of ESPN leagues.
Aroldis Chapman, RP, NYY
Chapman struck out the side to collect his 10th save of the season on Tuesday night. The big southpaw did give up a 2-out double in the appearance but was able to K the next batter to keep his ERA at a perfect 0.00 for the season. Chapman has been a top-flight closer for a long time, but he has been on another level so far in 2021. His league-best 19.13 K/9 rate is at a career-high, and his 2.81 BB/9 is a vast improvement on his career 4.19 BB/9 average.
Randal Grichuk, OF, TOR
Grichuk went 2 for 5 with a homer and a double against the Red Sox on Tuesday night. The Jays outfielder has taken advantage of George Springer's absence this season. Grichuk is now hitting .277 with seven home runs and 32 RBI on the season. He has controlled his bat better this season (92.0% Z-Contact%) and is currently toting career-best marks in K% (18.4%) and average. The more controlled approach has caused his power to dip a bit as his current .203 ISO is below his .233 career mark, but it should make him a more consistent contributor. He still doesn't get many free passes (5.1% BB%), so his .316 OBP is underwhelming, but he seems to be figuring things out a bit overall.
Mike Zunino, C, TB
Zunino went 2 for 5 with a pair of homers and three strikeouts on Tuesday night in Baltimore. The 30-year-old backstop now has four homers over his last five starts and 10 for the season. His triple-slash line currently sits at an undesirable .218/.292/.586 but his wOBA (.371) and wRC+ (144) are both stellar. His power makes Zunino fantasy-relevant, but you'll have to live with the high K-rate (35.4% K%) and lowly average.
Miguel Sano, 1B, MIN
Sano hit three homers and drove in four of the Twins' five runs against the White Sox on Tuesday night. He is now riding a modest four-game hit streak in which he has four home runs and seven RBI. His season numbers are still scary to look at (6 HR, 12 RBI, .171 AVG, 35.4% K%), but Sano is a streaky hitter that can carry a team when he gets hot. The 28-year-old continues to show patience at the plate (29.2% O-Swing% and 16.2% BB%), so if he can start to punish the pitches inside the zone with more regularity, he would be worth a look in most fantasy formats.
