Ryan Braun- OF- MIL- Idea- Braun has had a power surge recently, with 5 homers in his last 4 games, and has a .250/.347/.532 slash line against southpaws for the season. Daniel Norris has allowed 6 homers in 31.1 IP against RH hitters. This is a recipe for Braun to continue a hot power streak. Value play- Draft Kings salary $4700
Kolten Wong- 2B- STL- Hot- Wong is finishing with a flourish, going 9-for-24 in his last 8 games. He has been a victim of bad luck this season, with a .265 BABIP through September 16. This hot streak has pulled that number up to .275, still below Wong's career mark of .286. He has had a trend of performing better in odd numbered years, so 2019 could see a bounce back for Wong.
Jose Ureña- P- MIA- Hot- Ureña finished his season continuing his hot streak. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 2 in 6 IP. It was the 7th time in his last 8 starts that he allowed no more than 1 run. Ureña finished 2019 with a career high 174 IP, an ERA of 3.98 after a 3.82 last year, and career bests in K/9, BB/9, and FIP. Next year will be his age 27 season, so Ureña should be looked at as a sleeper of sorts.
Corey Dickerson- OF- PIT- Hot- Dickerson has broken out of a slump he had in the first half of this month in a big way. After going 2-for-5 with a double yesterday he is 16-for-38 with 2 homers, 6 doubles, a triple, 7 runs and 6 RBI since September 16. Dickerson has a .333 BABIP on the season, but that is not that far above his career mark of .329, so his season is not a product of pure luck. Dickerson has increased his contact rate this season to 80.5% from 73.6% in 2017. That seems to be at the cost of some power, as his homer total has gone from 27 to 13. Dickerson's steals have doubled from 4 to 8, but that doesn't make up for the loss of power. Overall, the gain in average was probably not worth the loss in homers from a fantasy perspective, so Dickerson has question marks heading into 2019.
Justin Bour- 1B- PHI- Cold- Bour got a rare start yesterday and went hitless in 4 ABs against the Braves. He has been hampered a lot by an oblique strain that he suffered after being acquired from the Marlins, but Bour's value had already dropped just from the trade, when his playing time dropped dramatically. He has only hit 1 homer in 53 PAs for Philadelphia, when they had traded for him to provide power off the bench. Bour has hit 20 homers this season overall, 18 of them in 295 ABs against RH pitching. His role in 2019 will be, at best, as a platoon player for some team.
