Maikel Franco- 3B- PHI- Idea- Franco has had success against RH pitchers, with a .292/.329/.515 slash line against them. The matchup against Marco Estrada and his .280/.333/.538 slash line with 14 homers allowed in 64.1 IP against RH hitters is definitely in Franco's favor. Value play- Draft Kings salary $3900
Tucker Barnhart- C- CIN- FYI- Barnhart has surpassed his career highs in PAs, homers, and runs. He has gotten some time at 1B lately as the Reds look to keep his bat in the lineup. Barnhart's .242/.326/.366 slash line isn't stellar but by getting a lot of playing time his value is solid. He has increased his Hard% from 33.2% last year to 40.5%, so there is potential for increases in production for the rest of this season looking into 2019. Barnhart has established a reputation as a top notch defensive catcher, so the incentive there is to keep him in the lineup. Currently he is in the top 5 for PAs by catchers and with Buster Posey out for the season he should end up in the top 4.
Javier Baez- 2B- CHC- Great Player- Baez has been on a torrid streak for the past week. He has hits in 6 straight games and multiple hits in 5 of them. After going 2-for-4 with a homer, walk, run, and 3 RBI, he is 12-for-26 with 3 homers, 2 walks, 5 runs, 8 RBI, and 2 steals in his last 6 games. Baez has seen his Batting EYE drop from 0.21 in 2017 to 0.17. However, his Hard% has increased from 32.4% to 37.6% and his LD% has gone from 15.4% to 22.8%. this could explain him exceeding his projected average while his BABIP has actually gone down slightly from .345 to .339. Baez has contributed across the board and it looks like this might be his new normal.
Gregory Polanco- OF- PIT- Hot- Polanco went 2-for-4 with a triple, extending his hitting streak to 6 games. He has gone 10-for-24 in that stretch with 5 walks, a homer, 4 runs, and 5 RBI. It has brought his BABIP to .285, close to his career mark of .288. Polanco has seen his GB/FB ratio drop from 1.13 last year to 0.71 in 2018 and his Hard% jump from 25.9% to 35.3%. Polanco may end up with career highs in doubles, triples, and homers this season if he continues at the pace he has set so far this year.
Kenley Jansen- RP- LAD- Cold- Jansen has appeared in three games since returning from an irregular heartbeat. He did not get the job done in any of them. In the first two appearances he gave up the winning runs in the top of the 9th, entering in tie games. Last night he was called on to protect a 1-run lead in the top of the 9th and surrendered a game-tying homer. In the middle of the playoff hunt, the Dodgers will likely not give Jansen much time to work things out in the closer role.
