Steve Pearce continued to rake for the Red Sox, hitting his fifth, sixth, and seventh HRs of the season yesterday. Pearce mashes lefties, but will only play in certain matchups. Still, he's worthy of a pick up in daily lineup leagues. His average against lefties is .354 on the season, which is good enough even if it's just half the time.
Mookie Betts got out of his slump yesterday, reaching base 6 consecutive times while adding a SB. After a few poor games, it was a sight for sore eyes. Clearly nothing wrong with Mookie; continue to start him as a top 3 fantasy player in the league.
Reynaldo Lopez had a great outing last night, going 7 IP with 2 ER and 4 strikeouts against the Royals. That stat line says more about the lack of Royals' offense than anything, as Lopez has been one of the worst pitchers in all of baseball this season with a 5.38 SIERA. Despite the solid outing, Lopez isn't a recommended option in any format - unless he plays the Royals every day I suppose.
Adalberto Mondesi was 1-for-4 yesterday with a stolen base. Most importantly, Mondesi batted leadoff on the night, whereas he's mostly been at the bottom of the order. Batting leadoff would lead to a significantly larger number of ABs for Mondesi, who can be a real game changer for teams in need of SB. He stole 10 SB in just 133 PA in AAA this season. He could be worth a speculative add in Roto leagues.
Andrew Heaney was cruising until the fourth innings against the Rays yesterday, when he let in all four of his runs. He went six innings while striking out 5. Heaney should only be used in two-start weeks or favorable matchups like yesterday - which as we saw won't always pan out. His SIERA sits just shy of 4.00 on the year, and he sports a respectable 8.6 K per 9.
