Gerardo Parra- OF- COL- Idea- Although he has been cold recently, Parra still owns a slash line of .325/.378/.450 against RH pitching. Frankie Montas brings a .286/.345/.515 slash line against LH hitters to Colorado. This gives a distinct edge to Parra. Value play- Draft Kings salary $4200
Trevor Richards- P- MIA- Rookie- Richards recorded his 3rd straight quality start, throwing 6 shutout IP against the Nationals, allowing 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 8. Richards was Miami's Organizational Pitcher of the Year last year and has exceeded expectations in his first appearance in the majors. Richards' changeup is his best pitch and he ahs thrown it half as often as his fastball. The mix seems to be working. With the Marlins he's not going to be in line for many wins but as a potential back end starter he could have some value in deep leagues.
Yasiel Puig- OF- LAD- Hot- Puig had a successful return from the DL, going 1-for-2 with a walk, sac fly, homer, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. He picked up right where he left off with a hot July and is now 9-for-25 with 3 homers, 6 runs, and 11 RBI in 8 games this month. Having Manny Machado in the lineup will probably help Puig and keep pressure off him.
Nick Markakis- OF- ATL- Cold- After hitting .323 in the first half, Markakis has gone 5-for-26 since the All Star Break. There could be some regression to the mean going on here, as his BABIP of .337 is well above his career mark of .318. Markakis was projected to hit .275 this season so his first half production was probably a reach.
Johnny Cueto- P- SF- Cold- The Brewers tagged Cueto for 4 runs in 4 IP on 8 hits. He didn't walk anyone but he also didn't record a strikeout. Cueto has not posted a quality start in any of his 4 outings since returning from the DL earlier this month. His last quality start was on April 28th in his last start before going on the DL. Initially there was fear that his elbow ligament was torn and he would require Tommy John surgery. The diagnosis ended up being a strain but his results since being activated aren't showing significant recovery.
