Adeiny Hechavarria- SS- TB- Idea- Hechavarria has feasted on southpaws this season, to the tune of a .373/.411/.392 slash line against them. Wei-Yin Chen has been largely ineffective against RH hitters, with a slash line of .307/.398/.543 facing them. A strong edge is given to Hechavarria in this matchup. Value play- Draft Kings salary $2900
Manny Machado- SS- BAL- Great Player- The likelihood of an impending trade certainly isn't bothering Machado. For the fifth time in his last 7 games he collected multiple hits. Machado has 2 homers in that span. He is probably in his last few weeks as an Oriole and should continue to provide major production for whatever team he joins.
Jordan Zimmerman- P- DET- Hot- Zimmerman looked like his shoulder impingement that landed him on the DL was a thing of the past. He allowed 1 run in 7 IP on 5 hits. Zimmerman struck out 6 and walked no one. He was extremely efficient and in control, with 71 of his 97 pitches thrown for strikes. With a 3.91 ERA and 3.20 FIP this is shaping up as Zimmerman's best season as a Tiger if he can remain healthy. He has rediscovered the ability to miss bats, as his 8.38 K/9 is far better than the 5.79 and 5.64 he posted in 2017 and 2016 respectively.
Blake Snell- P- TB- Hot- Snell turned in a very encouraging start, earning his 11th win of the season against the defending world champions. He gave up 1 run in 7 IP on 4 hits and struck out 10 batters for the second consecutive start. There had been concerns about Snell's control after he walked 15 batters in 19 IP across his previous 3 starts. He only allowed 1 free pass yesterday, though, and threw 66 of his 100 pitches for strikes. Snell has posted quality starts in 7 of his last 9 outings and he was one out away from collecting another one in a game where he gave up just 1 unearned run in 5.2 IP. He has allowed more than 2 ERs only 3 times in 18 starts this season. Snell looks like he is reaching the potential predicted a couple of seasons ago.
Lance Lynn- P- MIN- Cold- After a streak of 5 consecutive quality starts that gave hope that Lynn was going to turn the season around, he has failed to get one in his last 3 outings. Yesterday's outing was a new low for 2018. In 1.2 IP against the Cubs, Lynn was charged with 7 runs (all earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 1. He has had consistent issues with control, even when he was getting through with quality starts. Yesterday, in Lynn's implosion, only 333 of his 62 pitches were strikes. There is not enough evidence in his peripherals the Lynn is worth owning in any fantasy format.
