Tim Anderson- SS- CHA- Idea- Anderson's extreme splits of 2017 have continued into 2018. His .333/.381/.615 slash line against southpaws bodes well against the .288/.362/.569 Mike Minor brings into the matchup. Value play- Draft Kings salary $2800
Corey Kluber- P- CLE- Great Player- It was vintage Kluber yesterday against the defending World Champions. He fanned 10 Astros in 7 IP, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits while walking no one. Kluber has made a quality start in every outing in 2018. This should help calm some worries arising from low K totals in his previous 2 starts.
Jonathan Lucroy- C- OAK- FYI- Lucroy's Hard% has taken a jump from 22.3% in 2017 to 38.5% in 2018. His FB% has also increased from 27.9% to 33.0%. It hasn't translated to any homers yet, but those are encouraging trends for hopes that Lucroy will increase his production to a level closer to his career norms.
Gary Sanchez- C- NYA- Hot- Sanchez had a huge game, going 4-for-5 with 2 homers, 2 runs, and 3 RBI. There may be some positive regression going on. As of May 8, Sanchez's BABIP stood at .187. It's now at .215, with 15 points coming from yesterday's performance. There is still plenty of room for upward movement as his career mark is .289. Expect that to help get his average closer to his preseason projection of .267. After hitting 3 homers in his first 18 games, Sanchez has slugged 9 in his next 21 games. He is now on track to meet or exceed his projected 35 homers for the season.
Danny Duffy- P- KC- Danger- If you are determined to maintain a positive attitude about everything, you could say that Duffy averaged a K per IP in his start yesterday. Other than that, you've got nothing. He recorded 4 Ks so doing the math will tell you Duffy only lasted 4 IP. He also walked 3 and gave up 2 homers, bringing his BB/9 to 4.41 and his HR/9 to 2.47. Duffy was charged with 5 runs on 7 hits. He has made 10 starts this season and only 1 has been of the quality variety. This sudden implosion after two solid seasons of pitching could mean that his injury that required offseason surgery was more serious than was let on. Right now there is no way to recommend holding him or buying low.
