Zach Davies (SP, MIL) - The young righty went seven innings, earning his 15th win of the season as the Brewers downed the Dodgers 3-0. Davies allowed no runs and just three hits while striking out seven and walking none. Davies has been a solid, yet unexciting pitcher this season, as he strikes out less than six per nine innings, and walks nearly three. He has stranded 73% of batters, which helps when you have a .302 BABIP. It also helps to have a solid offense behind you, hence the 15 wins. While he will not help you out with strikeouts, he could be a late round pitcher in deeper leagues, as he is currently ranked as a top 50 fantasy pitcher, but it is difficult to treat him as such.
Anthony Rizzo (1B, CHC) - Rizzo led the way in a Saturday offensive explosion, as the Cubs stomped the Phillies 17-2 at Citizens Bank Park. Rizzo went 3 for 5 with two homers and five RBI in the winning effort. On the season, the 28-year-old has 30 home runs and 90 RBI, and is currently on pace for 38 bombs and 114 RBI. Add in ten steals for good measure, and it figures to be an all-around great year for Rizzo owners. Rizzo is a rare player whose BB% (13.1%) is higher than his K% (12.9%), which leads to the solid OBP. His 135 wRC+ shows how much of the offense he accounts for, even in a stacked Cubs lineup. He is a top option at the position, and in all of fantasy for that matter, so use the early pick on him, and lock in the production in 2018.
Rhys Hoskins (1B, PHI) - Hoskins did it again Saturday, despite the Cubs exploding for a 17-2 win. The 24-year-old hit his 10th homer in his first 17 games, and now has a .300/.417/.817 line, with the ten homers and 23 RBI. Hoskins is not only mashing, but showing decent plate discipline, as his K% sits at 17.6%, while his BB% comes in at 16.2%, which is good news for OBP owners. His wRC+ is almost double league average at 199, and he also owns an insane .480 wOBA. Hoskins is playing his way up 2018 draft boards, and will figure to cool off at some point, but let's sit back and enjoy history being made before our eyes. He is one to watch for next season.
Tommy Pham (OF, STL) - Pham went 1 for 3 Saturday, but the one was a biggie. The 29-year-old hit a two-run walk off blast in front of the home crowd as the Cards edged the Rays 6-4. In addition to the clutch homer, Pham scored three times as well. On the season, he is sporting a .304/.400/.501 line, with 17 home runs, 55 RBI, and 17 stolen bases. Pham is currently on pace for a 20/20 season, and has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the 2017 fantasy season. His .383 wOBA shows he is hitting for extra bases consistently, and the .374 BABIP indicates the bat is getting on the ball on a regular basis.
Adam Duvall (OF, CIN) - The Cincy slugger and his $3700 price tag get to face the Pirates' Jameson Taillon who has had his struggles recently. The Pirates righty has a 4.09 ERA on the road, and right handers are hitting .282 against him. Duvall has had success against Taillon as well, hitting .429 with two home runs against him, albeit in a small sample size of 16 at-bats. It makes for a matchup I like a lot on the Sunday DFS slate.
