J.T. Realmuto(C-MIA): J.T. Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Mets. At catcher you have Sanchez, Posey, Contreras, and then? Maybe it's Realmuto, who moved his season line to .292/.351/.468 with 14 homers, six steals, 54 runs, and 50 RBIs. While he doesn't possess the power of Sanchez and Contreras, Realmuto has elevated his hard hit and pull rates, which has lead to a 50-point spike in his ISO. Add in his 83 percent contact rate and BABIP-friendly batted ball profile, and I see a perennial .300 threat with 15-20 homers and 10 steals, one I'd be happy drafting in the first five-to-six rounds in standard drafts next season.
Seung-hwan Oh(RP-STL): Seung-hwan Oh earned his 19th save after recording two outs in an 11-10 win against the Pirates. With Trevor Rosenthal (elbow) likely done for the season, the Final Boss looks like he'll earn another look in the closer role. Yes, Mike Matheny began the ninth with Bowman and Duke, and yes Oh has been shaky lately, but I still think he'll see the next save chance. His BABIP is 50 points higher than last season despite a six-percentage point decrease in his hard-hit rate. And, he's still maintaining a 13.2 percent swinging strike rate and a 63.3 percent first-pitch-strike rate. While the Cardinals are in the thick of the race and won't give Oh too long of a leash, I still believe in the skills and see him keeping the job down the stretch.
Jesse Winker(OF-CIN): Jesse Winker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer against the Braves. Winker now has hit more homers with the Reds in 26 games than he did in 85 games at Triple-A. He did post ISO's of .143 and .151 at Double-A, and was likely hurt by the International League environment that he played in, so I suspect that the power is legit and that he can belt 12-15 homers over a full season. While that makes him a fringe option in most five-outfielder leagues, it gives him value in three-outfielder points leagues, as he continues to post impressive plate discipline numbers (11:15 BB:K ratio). The man knows the strike zone and should continue posting plus AVG numbers too, so don't forget about him heading into 2017.
Howie Kendrick(OF-WAS): Howie Kendrick went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base against the Padres. What an incredible month it has been for the new National, who has hit five homers, collected 13 RBIs, and hit .400 through 14 games. The injuries in the Nationals outfield have given Kendrick a shot at everyday at-bats, and manager Dusty Baker his been hitting him atop the lineup consistently. Turner and Harper should return in early September, but in the meantime, Kendrick can play difference maker in all leagues. At this team of year, I wouldn't worry too much about pending regression in his .415 BABIP. Ride the hot hand.
Billy Hamilton(OF-CIN): Billy Hamilton ($3300) look like a solid tournament play today on FanDuel for his matchup against Julio Teheran in Atlanta. Teheran has been woeful at home, allowing a .369 wOBA with a 7.07 ERA and 15 homers across 62 1/3 innings. He's been especially bad against LHH there, as they've gotten to him for a .407 wOBA. He's also allowed 22 stolen bases in 26 attempts overall. All of this should bode well for Hamilton, who has posted a .302 wOBA vs. right-handers (compared to .210 vs. left-handers) and has hit all three of his homers and has walked 33 times over 372 plate appearances against them. I love the price and see a big day for Hamilton and the top of the Reds lineup.
