Anthony Rendon-Nationals-3B
Anthony Rendon was 3-4 with a run scored against the Angels. On the year he is hitting .303 with 22 HR, 63 R, 76 RBI, and 5 SB. He should see an uptick in his counting stats with a more favorable lineup spot with the Bryce Harper injury. Rendon has shown excellent plate discipline skills with 14.2% BB and 14% K. His ability to make contact at an above average rate has translated to more power this year. The powers pike is legit due to 35% Hard, 48% FB, and 40% Pull. Health is always going to be a concern with Rendon but the skills above average and the fantasy production has been fantastic this year.
Michael Conforto-Mets-OF
Michael Conforto was 1-3 with a walk against the Yankees. Conforto on the year is hitting .282 with 26 HR, 69 R, 64 RBI, and 2 SB. He has finally been allowed to play every day and has flourished. He does strike out a decent amount at 25% but he has shown good plate discipline (13% BB) and power (.288 ISO). The power is legit due to his batted ball profile. He hits the ball hard (40%), in the air (40%), and to the pull side (33%). The counting stats may suffer due to the lineup around him but he has the potential to be a 30 HR/100 RBI middle of the order hitter with a respectable average (.270-.280) in the upcoming years.
Gio Gonzalez-Nationals-SP
Gio Gonzalez went 6 IP and gave up 0 ER on 2 H, 3 BB, and 4 K's against the Angels. Gonzalez through 24 starts has a 2.49 ERA (4.39 SIERA). This is a career year for the left-hander in his age 32 season. His skills are very similar to his career numbers with 22.7% K and his walks are elevated at 9.5%. He has benefited from good fortune on his batted balls. His .246 BABIP is significantly lower than his career .296 BABIP. His left on base rate is 11% higher than his career average and this has directly led to the lower ERA. Gonzalez is going to be hit by regression but it might not be until next year.
Dan Straily-Marlins-SP
Dan Straily went 5 IP and gave up 3 ER on 5 H, 2 BB, and 3 K's against the Giants. Straily through 25 starts a 3.80 ERA (4.35 SIERA). He has pitched well in Miami, which is a perfect park for his skill set. Straily batted ball profile leans towards fly balls (47%), which in today's game could be a major problem. However, he has been able to keep his home run rate in check (1.27 HR/9). This has allowed his ratios to remain in check while posting an average strikeout rate (21%). There is room for growth in his strikeout rate based on his 11.3% swinging strike rate. He is never going to be a fantasy ace but Straily has transformed himself into a back end of the fantasy rotation type of starter. He is on his way to back to back 30+ start seasons, which is valuable in of itself.
DFS Value Play
Kike Hernandez-Dodgers-OF
Kike Hernandez normally is in the lineup when the Dodgers are facing a left-handed pitcher. If he is higher up in the lineup his value rises even more. Hernandez has crushed LHP over his career (.372 wOBA and .256 ISO). Carlos Rodon misses bats but he also struggles walks too many guys and gives up homers (1.7 HR/9). Fanduel: $2,100
