Ian Happ, 2B, OF, CHC
After a 16 game homer-less drought, Happ has found his power stroke once again with 8 dingers in his last 15 games. He has truly been an all-or-nothing slugger over that stretch; besides for the 8 HR's, Happ only has 3 other hits and a 30% K% over those 15 games. It will tough for Happ to keep up the HR pace, as his 34.5% HR/FB is unlikely to hold up with a mediocre 31.9% Hard%. His BA is likely to continue disappointing however, as his SwStr% is a whopping 17.9% and that has led to a K% of 32.6%. He has a lot of potential, but right now Happ carries a lot of risk in a fantasy lineup.
Jose Pirela, 2B, OF, SD
Pirela went 2-5 with 2 SB's on Wednesday, raising his AVG to .351 through 64 PA's with the Padres this season. Unfortunately, the BA won't last, as his .425 BABIP is bound to drop, but Pirela does offer plenty of upside. He had 13 HR's and 8 SB's in 48 AAA games this season, and now has 3 HR's, 5 doubles, and 3 SB's in 14 big league games this year. It's still too early to tell how he'll turn out, but his 41.0% Hard% thus far is promising and he looks locked in at the leadoff spot for the Padres. He has the potential to be a multi-category asset.
Scott Schebler, OF, CIN
With all of the hype surrounding rookie phenoms Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, let's not forget about the 2nd-year breakout Schebler who hit his 20th HR of the season on Wednesday. It's a bit surprising that Schebler only has 39 RBI to go with his 20 dingers, especially consider that he bats 6th in a pretty good Reds lineup. Even more surprising is that he's still available in over 40% of ESPN leagues! His .258 BA is not that bad, and that's with a .250 BABIP, although his 14.2% SwStr% indicates that his strikeout rate may rise. Either way, he still has 20 HR's and is showing no signs of slowing down. You won't find much other pop like this on the waiver-wire.
Dan Straily, SP, MIA
Straily put up another quality performance on Wednesday, allowing 1 ER on 3 hits in 6 IP, while striking out 6 and walking 1. This marked the 12th time in 15 starts that Straily has allowed 3 ER's or less. He is currently posting career-bests with a 9.21 K/9 and 2.89 BB/9, which makes him a good bet to provide at least solid ratios going forward. He is best used at home however; his ERA is 4.93 with 7 HR's allowed in 7 road starts compared to 2.17 with only 3 HR's allowed in 8 starts at the pitcher-friendly Marlin Park.
Matt Adams, 1B, ATL
Adams is hitting .321 with 9 HR's in 19 games this June, and has a .959 OPS against RHP's this season entering Wednesday's game. On Thursday, the Braves will host the Giants and veteran RHP Matt Cain who has allowed a .392 OBP to LH-hitters this season and has a 7.46 ERA on the road, making Adams' price tag very reasonable. DraftKings Value Play Salary $4,400.
