Matt Adams, 1B, ATL
Adams hit two more HR's for the Braves on Monday, and after hitting just 1 HR in 53 PA's for the Cardinals earlier in the season, he has now hit 8 in 96 PA's since being traded to Atlanta. His 40.0% Hard% entering Monday's game is a good sign that the power should continue, but his K% is still high at 26.2% which means he won't help you in the BA category. Adams also usually sits against lefties and for good reason - he has a .590 career OPS against southpaws - but this just further dampens his fantasy value. The power is nice, but as a whole, Adams is still a fringe fantasy option.
Jacob deGrom, SP, NYM
After two subpar performances, deGrom tossed a complete game against the Cubs on Monday, allowing just 1 ER in the outing. HR's and BB's have been the problems for deGrom this season, as his 3.78 BB/9 and 1.44 HR/9 are both way above his career marks for those categories (2.40 and 0.82 respectively). Despite the positive outing, those trends both continued, as deGrom did allow a HR and 4 BB's in the game. However, we should expect his 19.7% HR/FB to deflate over time and he has a strong enough track record to assume that he will turn things around. After all, his 11.11 K/9 is still elite and his 14.7% SwStr% (entering Monday) is among the best in the league. If anything, he's a buy-low candidate, although that will be harder to do now after Monday's performance.
Robbie Ray, SP, ARI
It's time to say what we've all kind of been thinking for a little while now: Robbie Ray is an ace. Over the past month, Ray has finally put up the results that we thought he might at some point, allowing just 1 ER on 14 hits over his last 5 starts with 48 K's in 37 IP over that stretch. His 13.9% SwStr% is the 5th highest in MLB this year, and since the start of 2016, his 11.40 K/9 ranks 2nd only behind Max Scherzer. In fact, Ray's career 10.11 K/9 ranks 10th all-time among starting pitchers! Not to say he doesn't come without flaws - Ray's BB% and Hard% are both above average - but that's not enough to outweigh his extreme strikeout abilities.
Jameson Taillon, SP, PIT
Taillon was activated from the DL and started against the Rockies on Monday, a pretty remarkable feat considering that his surgery for suspected cancer was just over a month ago. His return was quite successful, as Taillon pitched 5 scoreless innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 BB's while striking out 5 to lower his ERA to 2.90 for the season. We have to expect some regression as Taillon's xFIP is 3.80 and his strikeout and walk rates are mediocre, but he does induce a lot of GB's (54.3% GB%) and pitches in a friendly home park, so he should remain a serviceable fantasy starter.
Adam Lind, 1B, WAS
Lind is slashing an incredible .338/.402/.634 against RHP's this season and has been playing regularly while Ryan Zimmerman is out with a back injury. On Tuesday, the Nationals matchup against Braves RHP R.A. Dickey, who has a 5.67 xFIP against LH-hitters this season. DraftKings Value Play Salary $3,700.
