Troy Tulowitzki, Toronto Blue Jays - Troy Tulowitzki launched his 3rd homer of the season in a 2-for-4 effort at the plate. Tulo has had a rough season as he's been plagued by injury in addition to the poor performance at the plate. Tulo is not driving the ball at all this season with a 27% hard hit rate and there's a poor chance the hard hit balls are going in the air as he has a career high 50% ground ball rate . In June his numbers in those categories have been even worse and I don't see it likely that we get a significant bounce back to elite Tulo numbers.
Franklin Barreto, Oakland A's - The A's top prospect Franklin Barreto has been called up to the big league club due to the injury of Chad Pinder and he lost no time acquainting himself to the big leagues going 2-for-5 with his first career homer. Barreto was enjoying a solid season in AAA posting a .281/.326/.428 triple slash with eight homers and four stolen bases. He's shown us through the minors he has a solid power/speed combo as he hit 11 homers and swiped 30 bags over two level last year. If you're hurting in mixed leagues at your MI spot I could see Barreto being worth a potential add, but it's uncertain how long he will stay around at this point.
Tyler Austin, New York Yankees - Tyler Austin was called up to the Yankees after Chris Carter was DFA'd early on Saturday. Austin came up and did what he tends to do in the majors, strikeout. In his 31 game sample last year he fanned in 40% of his at bats and he struck out in two of his three at bats in his first game this year. Obviously this is a really small sample but he was striking out in 29% of his at bats in AAA this year which isn't exactly great. Austin did hit five homers in brief time up last year so he's shown power potential. The Yankees are still rumored to be in the market for a first baseman though so Austin still isn't necessarily locked in for at bats from here on out.
Dylan Bundy, Baltimore Orioles - Dylan Bundy picked up his 8th win of the season with seven innings of three run ball. Bundy saw a nice bounce back to his strikeout numbers tallying eight against the Rays, which was something he hadn't done since May 12th against the Royals. He still is walking far too many batters as of late with another four this game pushing his BB/9 up to 3.00. Another thing that doesn't look that great from Bundy is that he's allowing homers at a crazy rate as two more this game has him having allowed a homer in 10 straight games after allowing a homer in just one of his first six starts. Overall he's still a very useful fantasy arm even if he isn't quite the pitcher he was in his first handful of starts.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx, Texas Rangers - Austin Bibens-Dirkx improved to 3-0 on the year with a solid outing against the Yankees with the lone run coming via a Aaron Judge homer. Bibens-Dirkx has some numbers that have to make you worried if he's on a team of yours. He's striking out just five batters per nine and he's generating just a 39% ground ball rate combined with a just under 40% hard hit rate. He also has just a .194 BABIP against, so I can't recommend rushing out to add him in any leagues
