OF Yoenis Cespedes was expected to return early this week but owners may have to wait a bit longer as he was scratched from Saturday's rehab appearance with quad soreness. Cespedes is a must-start fantasy OF once he's activated, but that's up in the air right now. 3B Maikel Franco's rough season continues as he was riding the pine for two games last week. Franco remains a low-end 3B play right now until he can start to turn his season around. 2B Cesar Hernandez returned to the Phillies' lineup on Saturday after missing Friday's game with groin tightness. Hernandez is a viable 2B play in most leagues. OF Gregory Polanco is back with the Pirates after completing a 10-day DL stint with a hamstring strain. Polanco's season has been disappointing thus far but it's still too early to cut ties, but he's definitely not a must-start OF option right now.
Brandon McCarthy is questionable for his next start after leaving Saturday's game with knee tendinitis. Keep a watchful eye on McCarthy's status before starting him this week. Junior Guerra has recovered from his calf strain and rejoined the Brewers rotation on Friday with a solid one-run, 5.2 inning start. Guerra is worth a flier in deeper leagues if you're thin in the starting rotation. Steven Matz will likely make one more rehab start but could be back with the big league squad for a start next weekend. Matz will be a risky start coming off of injury though.
Nationals' manager Dusty Baker officially confirmed this week that Koda Glover is the team's closer going forward. Glover has strong fantasy value as closer on one of the best teams in baseball.
