Michael Conforto-Mets-OF
Michael Conforto was 0-4 with a run scored and a walk against the Pirates. Conforto is red hot as he has a .476 AVG with 3 HR and 6 RBI over his last seven games. On the season Conforto is hitting .326 with 13 HR and 36 RBI. Conforto still has some swing and miss to his game (26% K), but he also has legitimate power matched with an excellent walk rate (13% BB). He has an insane 47% Hard hit rate, which will allow him to maintain his power given that he hits 40% FB. Conforto will likely regress in the batting average category over the course of the year, but his power is real.
Zack Godley-Diamondbacks-SP
Zack Godley went 6 IP and gave up 0 ER on 5 H, 1 BB, and 6 K's against the Brewers. Godley through five starts has a 1.99 ERA (4.04 SIERA). Advanced stats like SIERA and FIP do not like Godley to continue this level of success but there is a lot to like about Godley.. He has a below average strikeout rate (20%) but there could be room for growth there due to his 14% SwStr. He is also getting 65% GB, which makes it hard for opposing teams to do any real damage against him. If he is still available on your wire, he needs to be owned going forward.
Anthony Rendon-Nationals-2B
Anthony Rendon was 1-3 with a walk against the Nationals. Rendon had been having a dismal season prior to his 3 HR and 10 RBI game. On the year he has a .284 AVG with 9 HR, 32 RBI, and 2 SB. Rendon has excellent skills with 16% K and 14% BB. By increasing his FB% to 40% he is going to hit for more power, potentially at the expense of his average. Over his past seven games, Rendon is hitting .389 with 4 HR and 9 RBI.
Aaron Nola-Phillies-SP
Aaron Nola went 6 IP and gave up 5 ER on 6 H, 2 BB, and 5 K's against the Reds. Aaron Nola through five starts this year has a 4.34 ERA (3.03 FIP). His strikeout rate is 21% and his walk rate is 8%. Nola's advanced data suggests he is better than his 4.34 ERA. His SwStr (11.4%) could lead to an uptick in strikeouts as well. He also does a great job of limiting hard contact with 54% GB. Nola has all of the skills to be an above average fantasy starter with room to grow in his strikeouts, he just needs to stay healthy.
