Starling Marte - The biggest news from Tuesday came in the form of a suspension for Pirates star OF Starling Marte for a PED and he'll now miss the next 80 days for the club. This is the second year in a row we've seen a highly invested in player get popped for PEDs (Dee Gordon) and fantasy owners are scrambling to replace the production. If at first response you went out and grabbed Austin Meadows thinking it was the logical move, well you still might need to find another option as GM Neal Huntington said that Meadows isn't in the immediate plans for the club. Adam Frazier got the start tonight and hit leadoff for the team so it appears that he'll get the majority of the looks in the meantime. Frazier is hitting .300 on the season and hit .301 in his debut last year but doesn't have much pop or speed. Andrew McCutchen is once again the team's starting centerfielder for leagues that use individual outfield spots.
Billy Hamilton - Billy Hamilton reached base three times Tuesday but managed to swipe only one base while scoring two runs. Hamilton has six steals now this season against one lone caught stealing. While the batting average is still in the .250 range he's starting to level off more pitches and hit line drives which can only help him. He still hits far too many fly balls for a guy with true 80 speed, but I think we just have to live with the fact that this is who he is. He's being plagued with a ridiculously low BABIP for a speed guy so my guess is we see a bit of a boost here in the future.
Mike Foltynewicz - Mike Foltynewicz turned in his first quality start of the year with 7.0 innings against the Nationals allowing just two runs. His strikeout to walk ratio continues to be an issues this season as his swing and miss stuff hasn't had a lot of swinging but not much missing. He walked four in this outing and k'd just three and has a 8:7 strikeout to walk ratio for the season. As opposed to the nine hits he allowed in his first start, the five this time out is an excellent step in the right direction. I'm not sure how deep of a mixed league you have to be to own him, but I think rostering him in a 12 teamer at this point feels like a reach.
Adam Duvall - Adam Duvall's power breakout that started last season had continued very nicely into 2017 as he launched his fourth homer Tuesday, and grand slam, and drove in five bringing him to 15. He's slugging the ball at a crazy high percentage with a .306 ISO after posting a .257 ISO in 2016. Most of his batted ball numbers are looking real similar to last season so his 33 homer 103 RBI campaign, that comes with a .241/.297/.498 triple slash.
Vince Velasquez - Vinny Velasquez makes for a DFS adventure each time he steps on this mound because of his ridiculous strikeout potential mixed with some 3.0 IP volatility. Against the Nationals he fanned 10 in just 4.0 innings and last time out he struck out seven in 5.0 innings against the same Mets that he faces Wednesday. The Mets are second to last ahead of only the Blue Jays in wRC+ against right handed pitching and with Velasquez being lower priced on Fanduel he's a great tournament option because of what could happen if it all clicked.
