Seth Lugo-Mets-SP
Seth Lugo went 7 IP and gave up 2 ER on 6 H, 1 BB, and 5 K's against the Braves. Lugo now has a 2.40 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 19.2% K. He has now made five starts at the major league level and the results are encouraging. He has the highest spin rate of any curveball in statcast history. This is important, because it is a pitch that he can throw to get ahead in counts and to strike batters out. He has average velocity for a righty, so he is going to need a true out pitch to survive. His SIERA sits at 4.22, which is nearly two runs higher than his traditional stats indicate. He does have matchups with the Twins and Phillies at home, which are both excellent matchups for Lugo.
Gio Gonzalez-Nationals-SP
Gio Gonzalez went 7 IP and gave up 1 ER on 7 H, 1 BB, and 5 K's against the Phillies. Gonzalez now has a 4.27 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 22.3% K. He has been much better in the second half (3.83 ERA). He has seen an improvement in his walk rate and more luck when it comes to his balls in play (BABIP). Gonzalez has the swinging strike rate (9.4%) to have an above average strikeout rate. He has two plus match ups with the Braves and Pirates over the next two weeks and needs to be in your lineups.
Zack Greinke-Diamondbacks-SP
Zack Greinke went 6 IP and gave up 3 ER on 6 H, 4 BB, and 3 K's against the Giants. Greinke now has a 4.54 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 20.3% K. He has been a disappointment in his first season in Arizona. The underlying skills are still there, but his home park has hurt him. He still has excellent control and the stuff (10.8% SwStr) to dominate, but his 5.13 ERA at home hurts big time. He has dealt with injury this year as well and at this point can't be trusted down the stretch. He has a 7.76 ERA with a 4.00 xFIP in the second half. His next start is not a good one with the Dodgers coming into town, but a start at San Diego after that one is a good matchup for Greinke.
Matt Moore-Giants-SP
Matt Moore went 7 IP and gave up 2 ER on 8 H, 1 BB, and 11 K's against the Diamondbacks. Moore now has a 4.05 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 20.4% K. In the second half, Moore has a 3.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 20% K. The biggest difference for Moore is the drop in home runs. His HR/9 fell from 1.49 to 0.89. The National League has a lot to do with that, but so does the Giants home park. Moore is a perfect fit for the N.L. West. He has two tough matchups with the Cardinals and Giants, but needs to be in your lineup regardless.
DFS Value Play
Josh Reddick-Dodgers-OF
Josh Reddick has severe platoon splits and can only be used versus RHP (.367 wOBA). He will have the platoon advantage in this one against RHP Bryan Mitchell. Reddick will also get a huge park boost moving from Dodgers Stadium to Yankee Stadiums short porch to right. He also makes a ton of contact (13% K), which raises his floor. DraftKings: $4,100
