Martin Prado- 3B- MIA- Idea- Prado has scorched southpaws this season to the tune of a .438/.513/.583 slash line. Carlos Rodon has had problems with RH hitting as evidenced by his .308/.371/.507 slash line against them. This is a huge edge for Prado. Value play- Draft Kings salary $4400
Adam Ottavino- RP- COL- Hot- Ottavino bounced right back from a poor showing in his first appearance after being named the Rockies' closer. Less than 24 hours after blowing a save Wednesday night Ottavino struck out the side in the 9th inning yesterday afternoon to nail down a save. This is the kind of performance Colorado was hoping for. His stumble out of the gate Wednesday in no way impacted his role.
Jameson Taillon- P- PIT- Hot- Taillon extended his string of quality starts to 6 by throwing 8 scoreless IP, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. He has had some good luck, with his ERA of 2.85 below his 3.52 FIP. Still, these outings give an indication that Taillon has made a successful return from Tommy John surgery and a sports hernia that have cost him the last two seasons. He is now not far off the kind of performance that made him a top prospect before his injuries.
Jean Segura- 2B- ARI- Stats- Segura went 0-for-5, breaking a small 4-game hitting streak. His BABIP has risen to .350, above his .310 career average. Segura has had a high BABIP for most of this season so he could be seeing some negative regression to the mean as the season winds down.
Noah Syndergaard- P- NYN- Cold- Syndergaard only lasted 5 IP yesterday, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and a walk. He did strike out 6 batters. It was the 3rd time in his 5 outings after the Break that he didn't pick up a quality start, something he failed to do in his last start of the first half also. Syndergaard has kept up his K rate, with 40 strikeouts in the 33.1 IP of his last 6 starts. However, he has also walked 13 in those games. The good news is that Syndergaard only walked 1 yesterday. If he can return to something close to his 1.34 BB/9 he had before this stretch then perhaps the rest of his game will fall in line.
