Anthony DeSclafani (SP-CIN): Anthony DeSclafani tossed a complete game, 4-hit shutout with nine strikeouts against the D-backs. The right-hander has pitched well since his activation from the DL, posting a 22 percent strikeout rate to go along with a 5 percent walk rate. His velocity is up a tic, and he's mixing in more curveballs. However, in order to move from a back-end option in mixed leagues to a mid-rotation one, DeSclafani will have to solve left-handers, against whom he has allowed a .370 wOBA, including nine homers in 47 innings.
Julio Urias (SP-LAD): Julio Urias won after allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over six innings vs. the Cubs. A 25 percent strikeout rate is impressive enough for a 20 year old, but his 63 percent first pitch strike percentage and respectable nine percent walk rate jump off the charts for the precocious left-hander. The Dodgers seem noncommittal when it comes to Urias's role for the rest of 2016--especially with Clayton Kershaw and Jose de Leon lurking--but as long as he's in the rotation, he's a must start in all but the shallowest of leagues.
Mike Foltynewicz (SP-ATL): Mike Foltynewicz won after allowing one run on five hits and one walk with six strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings vs. the Giants. Folty has produced inconsistent results in 2016 and the fact that he's pitching through bone spurs may be driving the variation. However, his upside makes him a worthy streaming option in standard mixed leagues, especially at home, for the remainder of 2016. His improved strikeout, ground ball, and hard hit rates have me intrigued for 2017, especially since he'll likely have those spurs removed in the offseason. Jot his name down for a 2017 value pick.
Zack Cozart (SS-CIN): Zack Cozart (knee) went 2-for-5 with a homer, a walk and two runs scored in his return to the starting lineup. Cozart has continued the power breakout he started last season, even elevating his hard hit rate seven percentage points to 32 percent. His batted ball speed limits his upside, but his extreme pull-happy approach combined with the favorable home park should enable him to hit for 20-25 homers over the course of a full season. As a MI in standard mixed leagues, he'll provide solid value.
Wil Myers (1B/OF-SD): Andrew Cashner has been scratched from his start today and the Marlins have summoned Justin Nicolino for the spot start. Nicolino has allowed a .385 wOBA to righties this season (.384 at home) while Myers has posted a .390 wOBA vs. lefties (.370 on the road). Myers' recent struggles, along with the late-swap at SP, moved his price into the middle-range at first base, creating a great value play on FanDuel for $3400.
