Adam Wainwright-Cardinals-SP
Adam Wainwright went 2 IP and gave up 7 ER on 6 H, 3 BB, and 2 K's against the Cubs. Wainwright now has a 4.72 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 18.7% K. He still has a SwStr that is well below average at 8.1%, which means that he isn't missing many bats. Batters are making more contact as a result and unfortunately it is not soft contact either as Wainwright is giving up a career high 31% Hard contact. His advanced metrics believe that this is the type of pitcher that he is at this point in his career (4.14 SIERA). At this point in the season with teams fighting for playoffs spots in many leagues, it is important to look ahead at his future matchups to decide if there is someone better on the wire. He gets the Phillies next time out, which is a decent matchup.
Ryan Schimpf-Padres-2B
Ryan Schimpf was 2-4 with 2 HR and 6 RBI in the win over the Mets. Schimpf is hitting .218 with 12 HR and 29 RBI in 47 games. Average is not going to be part of his game with a 26% strikeout rate. He is better suited for an OBP league as he has solid plate skills (14% BB, .343 OBP). The power is legit as he is pulling the ball (44%) and hitting it in the air (59%). Obviously he isn't going to keep it up at this pace, but he the ability to be a 20+ HR guy.
Jon Gray-Rockies-SP
Jon Gray went 4.1 IP and gave up 6 ER on 6 H, 4 BB, and 6 K's against the Phillies. Gray now has a 4.55 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 25.1% K. The traditional stats are not great, but there is a lot to like about Gray. His 3.70 SIERA is significantly better than his ERA and Gray induces a lot of weak contact. He gets 45% GB and has an 11.6% SwStr. Gray has upped his first pitch strike rate, which allows him to get ahead earlier, which is key because he has nasty stuff to make hitters swing and miss. He has also added curveball along with a cutter to lefties that gives him a full repertoire that keeps hitters guessing. Gray's numbers are almost identical home and road, but you want to target Gray on the road if at all possible.
Ivan Nova-Pirates-SP
Ivan Nova went 5.1 IP and gave up 1 ER on 9 H, 0 BB, and 2 K's against the Dodgers. Nova now has a 4.68 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 17.9% K. He now has two strong starts for the Pirates. Nova is someone who fits nicely in Pittsburgh. He generates 54% GB, which plays well with the Pirates philosophy and the N.L. in general. His biggest issue was home runs and PNC Park is great at neutralizing HR's. He is not going to miraculously turn into a stud pitcher, but he will benefit greatly from the new environment and could be an excellent streaming option when in a good pitcher's park. A matchup against the Giants on the road next time out is an interesting matchup due to the great pitcher's park, but the Giants have a good offense. I would roll the dice in an excellent pitchers park.

Cameron Rupp-Phillies-C
Cameron Rupp has crushed LHP over the past three seasons. He has a .390 wOBA and .260 ISO against southpaws. Tyler Anderson has given up a .322 wOBA to RHB and 32% Hard contact. Rupp gets the benefit of playing at home in a hitter friendly park. DraftKings: $3,700
