Alex Bregman, Houston Astros - After a slow start to his major league career, Slex Bregman has been on fire over the last two weeks and has now homers in three of his last six games, alternating games with homers. Entering Saturday, Bregman is slashing .333/.371/.544 with a 143 wRC+ since August 6th after posting a .053/.143/.053 triple slashing from his debut to 8/5. While it was unsure how much power he was going to have when he was drafted, Bregman now has 23 homers across three levels after homering four times in 66 games in his debut last year. Bregman has all the making of a fantasy stud, and may even be able to provide enough pop to be an upper tier 3B.
Jake Odorizzi, Tampa Bay Rays - Jake Odorizzi dominated the Rangers over six innings strikeout out four batters allowing one run and six hits. Odorizzi has been on a roll lately as he now has six straight games with a quality start and entering Saturday he'd struck out 7.31 per nine in his last five starts and a ridiculous 90.1% strand rate. For the season, he owns a 77.6% strand rate which is more in the ballpark of his career norm which means we could see the regression monster come lurking here soon. While I'm not sure if this is how you'd explore this to extrapolate, the Red Sox (Odorizzi's next start) are triple slashing .287/.370/.489 with runners in scoring position which is good for a 125 wRC+ and that's the second best in baseball and the Sox are the last team he didn't post a quality start against.
Hector Santiago, Minnesota Twins - Hector Santiago was tagged by the Royals for 8 runs on 11 hits, three of those being homers, over 4.2 innings. In positive news as least he didn't walk anyone this game, but he also only struck out two as he took his eighth loss of the season. Santiago has just been bad this year with a 5.16 ERA and a somehow ever worse 5.35 FIP. In four starts for the Twins Santiago has yet to allow less than four runs and he's allowed seven homers, and has allowed at least one homer in seven straight games. In fact, he's allowed a homer in 17 of his 26 starts and the three homers allowed Saturday is actually the 3rd time he's done that this season.
Yulieski Gurriel, Houston Astros - The Astros optioned Tyler White to AAA and are promoting Yulieski Gurriel to the majors on Sunday. It'll be interesting to see where he's going to play in Houston as the team doesn't exactly have a spot for him to slot in easily every day. What will likely happen though is that either he or Alex Bregman will gain some sort of extra eligibility (likely OF) over the course of the rest of the season. He's a must add in AL only (likely was already owned), and I'm sure most teams could find someone to drop off their teams in mixed leagues. He hasn't exactly torn up the minor leagues to this point, but that makes me even more certain that he's playing every day for the Astros.
Jose Quintana, Chicago White Sox DFS 9,000 - Jose Quintana makes for a nice start on Sunday facing the A's, who own a 92 wRC+ against lefties this season. Current A's hitters are hitting just .219 against him with four extra base hits in 95 ABs. At $9,000 he's still in the upper third of starting pitching pricing on Fanduel but his matchup makes for an exciting possibility at a bit of a SP discount.
