Josh Tomlin-Indians-SP
Josh Tomlin went 6.0 IP and gave up 1 ER on 7 H, 2 BB, and 6 K's against the Blue Jays. The Indians starters are on one heck of a role. Tomlin came into today's game with a 3.38 ERA, but a 4.36 SIERA. Tomlin is pitching way over his head and is due regression. SIERA does not like his 15.5% K or his 16.1% HR/FB. Tomlin does have excellent control (2.2% BB), but that means that he lives in the zone and that can backfire at times in the form of home runs. Tomlin is someone to sell high on as the strikeouts are not going to come up with only a 6% SwStr. He gets the Tigers next time around, which is not a good matchup for him.
Marcus Stroman-Blue Jays-SP
Marcus Stroman went 6.2 IP and gave up 1 ER on 5 H, 1 BB, and 5 K's against the Indians. Stroman came into today's game with a 5.33 ERA, which is not what he or the Blue Jays expected this year. Stroman has plus stuff, but has not been missing many bats (16.3% K, 8.3% SwStr). Stroman does have an elite groundball rate (58.8%), but it might be time to trade some of this grounders for more strikeouts. Stroman has a 1.42 WHIP, which is way too many baserunners for someone who pitches to contact especially in the American League. Don't give up on Stroman in dynasty leagues as the potential is still there, but re-draft leagues need to move on if they haven't already.
Lonnie Chisenhall-Indians-OF
Lonnie Chisenhall was 5-8 in the marathon win against Blue Jays. Chisenhall hit .302 with 4 HR and 13 RBI in the month of June. He did it by lowering his strikeout rate (12%) and upping his LD (24%). Chisenhall at this point needs to be considered in daily transaction leagues due to his ability to hit right-handed pitching. He has a .358 wOBA and .185 ISO against right handers. The Indians are not playing Chisenhall against LHP and this helps him maintain better overall numbers. Play him against righties and enjoy.
Michael Fulmer-Tigers-SP
Michael Fulmer went 7 IP and gave up 0 ER on 2 H, 1 BB, and 10 K's against the Rays. Is Michael Fulmer the ace the Tigers have been looking for? He sure has looked the part with a 2.17 ERA over 70.2 IP. Fulmer had given up 1 ER or less in seven straight starts and now makes it eight straight. He is showing the ability to miss bats (11% SwStr) with his plus fastball and elite slider. SIERA is not nearly as impressed (4.12) due to his 9.1% BB and his 86% LOB. Fulmer needs to improve upon his control, but the strikeout upside is going to keep Fulmer mixed league relevant for the foreseeable future. He will start in Cleveland next time out, which should be a good matchup with the red hot Indians.
DFS Value Play
Bryce Brentz-Red Sox-OF
Bryce Brentz will make for an excellent value play if he finds his way into the lineup. He will have the platoon advantage against LHP Hector Santiago, who has given up a .345 wOBA and 15 HR to RHB this year. Brentz's calling card is his power , which gets a nice boost in Fenway. DraftKings: $3,900
