Kevin Gausman, SP, BAL
It's amazing that Gausman is only 1-7 this year considering that he hasn't really pitched so poorly. While his 4.05 ERA is nothing to write home about, he does have a very solid 88:20 K:BB through 93.1 IP this season (16 starts). The area in which he most needs to improve is with regards to the long ball as he has already 16 HR's on the year. His 16.2% HR/FB should still regress some, and if he can keep the ball in the yard more consistently, he has a chance to take his game to the next level.
Roberto Perez, C, CLE
Perez has been activated from the DL, and with Yan Gomes out for an extended period with a dislocated shoulder, it looks like Perez should get a decent share of the playing time behind the plate for the Tribe. He showed some pop last season with 7 HR's in 226 PA's, but he strikes out at a high clip and isn't likely to hit for average (although the latter is true for most catchers). Perez does hold more value however in OBP leagues, as he has a career .340 OBP and has already walked 7 times in 18 PA's this season.
David Robertson, RP, CWS
Robertson blew a three run lead for the White Sox on Monday by allowing 4 ER's in 0.1 IP, watching his ERA rise from 3.22 to 4.14 in the process. His job is likely not in jeopardy considering he had only allowed 2 ER's in his previous 14 outings, but even over that span, Robertson compiled an uninspiring 1.68 WHIP with 9 BB's in 13.2 IP. Of course, those have been the issues all season long with Robertson whose 1.49 WHIP and 5.11 BB/9 in 2016 are by far his highest marks in the past 5 years. With the control issues he's having, Robertson is far from being an elite closer right now.
Stephen Vogt, C, OAK
Vogt added two more hits on Monday and is now slashing a very respectable .288/.331/.461 on the season. Over his past 40 games, Vogt has been even better with a .326 BA and an OPS north of .900. With a very good contact rate and strong fly ball tendencies (career 44.5 FB%), Vogt is the rare catcher who has the ability to contribute in average and power.
Kole Calhoun, OF, LAA
Calhoun actually has slightly better numbers against southpaws this season, but in his career he has a solid .772 OPS against RHP's. On Tuesday, he'll be facing RHP Kyle Lohse of the Rangers, which just shows you how thin Texas' starting pitching is right now. Calhoun comes at a very reasonable price considering his opponent. Value Play DraftKings $3,900.
