Will Harris-Astros-RP
Luke Gregerson has blown his last two saves and now has an 4.56 ERA. Will Harris came on in the ninth and recorded his first save. There is no indication that Gregerson is out as closer, but if you want to speculate, Harris would be the play as of right now. He has a streak of 24.1 scoreless innings pitched going. Harris has a 0.35 ERA with a 28.6% K.
Lance McCullers-Astros-SP
Lance McCullers went 7 IP and gave up 2 ER on 8 H, 3 BB, and 9 K's against the Athletics. McCullers improved to (3-1) and now has a 4.23 ERA with a 2.53 xFIP. McCullers has elite strikeout stuff with a 30% K and 12.2% SwStr. McCullers has struggled with his control, but has been better of late. He is also flashing an elite 57% GB through four starts. If he can hold the ground ball rate and the strikeout rate, McCullers is going to pitch closer to his xFIP than his ERA. Now is the time to get in before the price jumps substantially.
Kevin Gausman-Orioles-SP
Kevin Gausman went 6 IP and gave up 1 ER on 7 H, 1 BB, and 5 K's against the Yankees. Kevin Gausman came into the game with a 3.78 ERA and a 3.66 SIERA. Gausman has outstanding stuff, which has translated into a career high 22.8% strikeout rate. He even has room for growth in his strikeout rate, because he has an 11.8% SwStr, which is above average. He gets the Blue Jays in the Rogers Centre next time out, which is not the greatest matchup. Now is the time to buy Gausman before he truly breaks out.
C.C. Sabathia-Yankees-SP
C.C. Sabathia went 5 IP and gave up 0 ER on 2 H, 6 BB, and 5 K's against the Orioles. Sabathia has thrown the ball very well since coming back from the disabled list. Sabathia now has a 2.85 ERA, but a 4.26 SIERA. Sabathia's 20.4% K is below league average and he doesn't have an above average ground ball rate. This means that Sabathia is pitching above his head and should see regression set in. Ride him while he is hot, but the train is going to come off the tracks at some point.
DFS Value Play
Steve Pearce-Rays-1B, 2B
The Rays offense as a whole is very good against left-handed pitching and they get matched up with Robbie Ray. They also get a massive park bump going from Tropicana to Chase Field. Steve Pearce will be hitting cleanup and has massive platoon splits against LHP (.396 wOBA, .290 ISO). As mentioned in Brandon Guyer's write-up, Robbie Ray struggles mightily with RHB. DraftKings: $3,500
