Junior Guerra (MIL) - If you have a roster spot available, I'd take a flier on Junior Guerra for next week's potential two start. Guerra threw five innings with 6 K's yesterday, allowing 0 ER, but he did walk four batters. For the year, his FIP sits at an impressive 3.15, though he's been quite beneficial with a 0.72 HR/9 despite an unattractive 42.9% FB rate. Still, he's sporting an excellent SwStr% at 13.0%, making him a viable flier option. He'll be prone to a poor start due to the eventual HR normalization that will hit him, but if you pick your spots, he could be a solid backend producer.
Kris Bryant (CHC) - Bryant continued his successful sophomore season as he went 2-for-4 yesterday with a HR, 3 RBI, and a walk. Bryant hit his 10th HR of the year, and there seem to be plenty of more where those came from. Bryant has dropped his K rate from an abdominal 30.6% last year to 19.6% this year, which means more balls in play. His .305 BABIP for the year seems a bit low, so there's definitely some BA and OPS upside still to see. Overall, he remains an elite keeper option and still has solid upside rest of season in 2016.
Brandon Crawford (SF) - Crawford was 2-for-4 yesterday with a run and an RBI, including the game winning RBI yesterday against the Padres. He also stole a base and walked. For the season, Crawford has an average 104 wRC+, down from last year's 117. His plate approach has actually improved YOY (improved BB% and K%), but his IFFB% is up to 18%, which is quite absurd. His FB% as a whole is up to 40.7% from 33.5% last year, which could cause his average to suffer. That said, I like his power upside for the rest of the season, though playing in SF could limit that upside a bit. All things equal, he's a solid low-end SS.
Matt Duffy (SF) - Matt Duffy has had a poor 2016, but had a solid day yesterday going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases. Duffy's wRC+ of 84 is a bit deceiving as he's been unfortunate with balls in play. His BABIP is .271, down from .336 last year, despite an improved LD% from 20.9% to 23.6%. There should be some better days ahead for Duffy, plus his 7 stolen bases on the season leave him posed for 20+ SB, something he accomplished in the minors. I'm buying in deeper leagues.
Matt Kemp (SD) - Matt Kemp was 0-for-5 yesterday, and the brief honeymoon period for 2016 seems to have worn off. His wOBA is down to .284 for the season and, unfortunately, it doesn't look like things will improve going forward. His career walk rate is a modest 7.6%, and even that is down to just 2.1% this season, and his LD% is the lowest its been since 2007 at 19.3%. He's a low-end OF at this point in his career playing in a pitcher's park. He doesn't need to be rostered in shallow leagues at this point.
