Eugenio Suarez (SS - CIN) - Suarez was 2-for-5 yesterday with his eighth home run of the season. Along with the rest of the Reds, Suarez has cooled off quite a bit recently, but yesterday's homerun was a sight for sore eyes. I still like Suarez moving forward; he's cut down on his K rate and improved his BB% from last season, yet his BABIP is about 50 points below his career average. There's some more upside to average, and the power is for real.
Marcell Ozuna (OF - MIA) - Marcell Ozuna deposited his seventh home run of the year last night, continuing his hit streak. Ozuna is putting together a career year, but I'm a bit hesitant that it will continue. His LD rate of just 19.2% is quite anemic, yet his .378 BABIP is nearly 50 points higher than his career average, meaning we'll likely see some negative regression on his average. Fortunately, the power seems to be for real, but don't expect a .310 hitter with 30 HR for 2016.
Jerad Eickhoff (SP - PHI) - Eickhoff posted a quality start in the least quality way possible, going 6 innings with 3 ER and a loss, with just 4 K's. Now at just 1-6, the results for Eickhoff have been just okay so far. His ERA is around 4.50, but his SIERA (before yesterday) sat at a respectable 3.65. In re-draft leagues, the issue will be the innings limit on Eickhoff and the lack of potential wins playing for the Phillies. Eickhoff is flashing potential, but I don't think 2016 is the year that it all pays off. Continue to roster him and put him in an occasional favorable matchup, but I'd shop him in re-draft leagues for the above reasons.
Jeff Francouer (OF - ATL) - It amazes me that in 2016, Jeff Francoeur is still a cleanup hitter.. but meet the Atlanta Braves. Francoeur was 1-for-4 yesterday with a home run and 3 RBI. Yet unfortunately, it's no longer 2005. He's sporting a 42 wRC+ for the season, and I don't see any reason that we can expect anything close to league average. He's striking out 23.8% of the time, and yesterday notwithstanding, he's showcased very little power with an ISO of .027. Obviously he shouldn't be owned in any format despite yesterday's performance.
John Lamb (SP - CIN) - Prospect John Lamb had a day to forget yesterday, rendering 7 ER over 10 hits in just 4 innings for the Reds. Lamb is a former 5th overall pick, so there's potential there, but it hasn't been showing its way into 2016 results. He had a sparkling 1.80 ERA coming into yesterday, but if you can read peripherals, you'd know that he was a disaster waiting to happen. His SIERA - even before yesterday - sat at 5.20. Lamb shouldn't be rostered in any format; don't fall prey to the shiny ERA number prior to yesterday.
