Rick Porcello (SP-BOS) - Porcello has regressed a bit lately, but overall, it's been a mini break-out season for the former top draft pick. Tuesday, Porcello allowed four earned runs over five innings against the Tigers, resulting in an increase in his ERA to a still-solid 3.51. Porcello has an impressive 8.6 K/9 this season, and given his 5.7 and 7.8 marks the last two seasons, he's really coming into his own in terms of missing bats. Porcello is averaging barely under 90 mph with his fastball this year after posting a 91 mark in 2015, but his breaking stuff appears sharper and his BB/9 sits at its usual solid 2.0 number. At this point despite his recent regression, Porcello should be used in all formats.
Tyler White (1B-HOU) - At one point after White's hot start, he regressed to looking like a guy who would prefer to be in Triple-A, but times have changed. White homered twice on Tuesday in going 3-for-4 and adding a double to take his slash to .252/.325/.514. With A.J. Reed not setting the world afire in Triple-A, White looks like he'll continue to play regularly even though he hadn't really hit much lately prior to Tuesday. White had started just two of the previous five games prior to Tuesday, but this should help keep his bat in the lineup for the time being.
Carlos Rodon (SP-CHW) - Rodon allowed a pair of home runs to Houston's Tyler White on Tuesday, gut given what we've seen from him this year, two earned over six innings with a 7:1 K:BB is a nice step forward. I see Rodon as a top #3 starter long term rather than the #1 type guy the White Sox envisioned in drafting him in the top five, but keep in mind this is a guy who is just 23 and has all of 34.2 minor league innings on his resume. Rodon needs to continue lowering his 3.4 BB/9, but given his 9.4 K/9, seeing his 4.73 ERA drop to under 4 by the end of the season would not be a huge surprise. I like him quite a bit in lefty heavy lineups in DFS formats going forward.
Travis Shaw (3B-BOS) - Hey why spend $90 million on a 400-pound third baseman when you have a guy like Shaw in the organization? Surely the Red Sox are wondering that as well, but could anyone see this coming with Shaw? Tuesday, Shaw hit his sixth homer of the year in going 3-for-4 with three RBI to raise his slash line to a shocking .331/.403/.577. Shaw has even stolen three bases after stealing none in 142 games last year, and while the .398 BABIP he entered Tuesday with is going to go down, he should still finish with 20-25 homers and a .290+ BA. Hey isn't that what Pablo Sandoval was supposed to do?
Robinson Cano (2B-SEA) - It took 2+ years, but Cano's talent seems to have won out, as he's officially adjusted to the move out of Yankees Stadium. Tuesday, Cano hit a pair of doubles in a 3-for-4 effort to improve to .302/.347/.591. He's hitting in front of Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager who are both mashing, and in the two-hole ahead of Cano, Seth Smith has as .381 OBP, so that's helped Cano pile up 36 RBI already. Cano's BB and K rates haven't changed much this year, but it's great to see the power returning, as Cano's .289 ISO is a huge leap from the .140 and .159 marks he's put up the prior two seasons in his first two seasons as a Mariner. He's a first-round fantasy value so far this season and given you probably spend a 3rd on him in March, that's a nice return.
