Jerad Eickhoff-Phillies-SP
Jerad Eickhoff went 7 IP and gave up 0 ER on 4 H, 0 BB, and 9 K's. Eickhoff is someone who pitched well at the end of last year prior to being traded to the Phillies. Eickhoff flashed potential with 8.65 K/9 and 3.60 xFIP. The move to the National League is one that should benefit him. The one potential problem that sticks out, is his 40%+ fly ball rate, which is alarming in Citizens Bank Park. Eickhoff is someone who should provide decent strikeout numbers and makes for a nice streamer or back of the rotation arm in deep leagues.
Gregory Polanco-Pirates-OF
Gregory Polanco went 1-4 with a RBI against the Tigers. Polanco is someone that has all the potential in the world, but hasn't put it all together. In the second half of 2015 he hit .276 with 6 HR and 10 SB. He followed that up with a monster contract, which will allow him to play relaxed and allow his talents to take over. In the early going Polanco is hitting .286, which is backed up by his 28% BB and 11%K. He is also hitting the ball really hard (41%). These are all very positive trends for young outfielder.
Domingo Santana-Brewers-OF
Domingo Santana continues to leadoff for the Brewers, which has made him fantasy relevant. Santana offers an interesting blend of skills. He has showed an above average walk rate (11%) and power (.190 ISO). The downside it that he also strikes out a lot. He is a true three outcomes hitter, which has its place in the fantasy baseball community. The Brewers are committed to playing him everyday, which means that he needs to be owned in deeper formats. He is obviously more valuable in OBP leagues, due to his above average walk rates. The spot in the order is a plus, so is his home park.
John Lackey-Cubs-SP
John Lackey went 6.2 IP and gave up 2 ER on 6 H, 3 BB, and 7 K's. Lackey was brought over to provide stability to the middle of the Cubs rotation. Lackey posted a 2.77 ERA with the Cardinals a year ago, but that was largely due to a career high 83% LOB. Lackey's strikeout numbers are lacking (7.22 K/9), which means that he is someone who is likely to regress towards his 3.77 xFIP. He is still a useful pitcher, but don't expect anything near his 2.77 ERA from a year ago.
DFS Value Play
Ben Paulsen-Rockies-1B/OF
Ben Paulsen has the benefit of playing half of his games in Coors Field, which is the best hitters park and it isn't even close. Paulsen gets a plus matchup against RHP Matt Cain, who gave up 36% Hard contact a year ago. Paulsen has a .349 wOBA and .209 ISO against RHP. DraftKings: $3,600
