Brian Dozier, Minnesota Twins - DraftKings Salary $4,500 There are a pair of Twins who have great numbers against Yovani Gallardo, Joe Mauer and Brian Dozier. Unfortunately all of Mauer's hits have been singles whie Dozier has at least put one over the fence and driven in four runs. While he's never going to be a guy to hit for a high average, his power against right handed pitching is much high than against lefties with 21 of his 28 homers coming against righties. He's the priciest option at the position Wednesday but on paper he's more than worth his cost.
Andrew Heaney, Los Angeles Angels - Heaney's 2016 didn't start how he'd like as he faced the buzzsaw that is the Chicago Cubs offense. The Cubs tagged him for two homers, five runs and seven hits in 6.0 innings but his saving grace was that he struck out seven batters against zero walks. Heaney showed solid command last season with a 2.38 BB/9 but the seven strikeouts in six innings is a huge jump compared to his sub-7.00 K/9 last year. Heaney has a three pitch mix that all rate as being above average according to Fangraphs' PITCHf/x so he has the potential for some upside, starting with a favorable matchup against Oakland next time out.
Corey Kluber, Cleveland Indians - Kluber's start against the Red Sox this year didn't quite go as well as the one to finish his 2015 campagin. The former Cy Young winner gave up nine hits and four runs in 5.1 innings. He struck out five in the game but got tagged for a homer off the bat of Mookie Betts. Seeing Kluber walk two in just 5.1 innings is uncharacteristic of him (1.92 BB/9 in 2015) but in the first start of the season we can't be overly concerned. Kluber was still a stud last year despite his 9-16 record and based on logic you'd think a full season of Francisco Lindor at shortstop will only help him out. No need to fret.
Carlos Correa, Houston Astros - This Correa kid is pretty good at baseball it would seem as the second year SS launched a solo homer, drove in two, and stole two bases on Opening Day for the Astros. After stealing 14 bags in 99 games last year it is very noticeable that he swiped two in the first game. We'll have to see if this is a team effort to try and run more or if Correa was just able to get good jumps/reads on the Yankees' pitchers. His homerun was also to the opposite field which has a little to do with it being Yankee Stadium but if he can develop that oppo-power even more he could blow through all our projections for him. If you're lucky enough to have snagged him in your drafts, enjoy the ride as he's as good as we've seen in fantasy at the position in a good while.
Alex Colome, Tampa Bay Rays - Well tonight we found out Colome is absolutely the closer for the Rays has manager Kevin Cash sent him out there for the final two innings of the game. While he did end up with the win thanks in part to a Logan Forsythe homer in the bottom of the 8th and then being the beneficiary of the new slide rule which took the go-ahead runs off the board and gave the Rays the win. He allowed four total baserunners in his two frames and struck out one, but he's by far the most talented arm in the bullpen for the Rays so if you are searching for 'pen help already Colome is a very intriguing arm.
