DFS Picks:
Logan Forsythe (2B-TB) - It's hard not to pick Logan Forsythe in DFS leagues when a lefty is pitching. Forsythe's .299 AVG against LHP is 26 points higher than his AVG against RHP. He also has a 16.7 AB/HR ratio against lefties compared to a 53.3 AB/HR ratio against righties. Forsythe and the Rays are set to face Mark Buehrle on Friday. Forsythe is 10 for 25 vs Buehrle in his career. He doesn't have any home runs but four of his 10 hits have gone for extra bases. At a .40 XBH/H ratio how couldn't you take your chances on Forsythe? DraftKings Value Pick $3,500
Brandon Guyer (OF-TB) - Most of Brandon Guyer's at bats this season have come against lefties. Compared to his 141 at bats vs RHP, Guyer has 185 at bats vs LHP. Over these 185 at bats, Guyer is hitting .270 with a .376 OBP and a .459 SLG. Almost all of his major offensive numbers are much greater against lefties. Guyer has just one home run, eight RBIs, and eight walks against RHP. His seven home runs, 19 RBIs, and 16 BBs (16 HBPs as well) vs LHP is a huge upgrade. Guyer will face Mark Buehrle on Friday, who he has no trouble hitting. Guyer's .350 AVG and .700 SLG are proof. DraftKings Value Pick $2,900
Ervin Santana (SP-MIN) - Minnesota is still fighting for a playoff spot. Kansas City is already in. That means there's a chance KC will be playing their starters in a reduced role this weekend to keep them fresh and healthy. With Ervin Santana starting for Minnesota, that's good news. Santana has won each of his last five decisions. Over that stretch he has a 1.47 ERA and an 8.37 K/9. Santana is hot and the numbers don't lie. Santana has drastically improved his efficacy recently, and has given up just one home run in his last seven starts. Considering that Minnesota will be playing for all the marbles and KC will be playing a throw away game, Santana's win probability will be pretty high. DraftKings Value Pick $7,700
Chris Young (OF-NYY) - Chris young is good for one reason and one reason only, to face lefties. With a matchup against Wei-Yin Chen imminent, it's time for Young to break out the big stick. In his career against Chen, Young is 6 for 14 with a 3:2 BB/K ratio. That being said, Young has a 29:72 BB/K ratio this season. Despite the small sample size, Young's ability to distinguish pitches from Chen is a huge plus. Young has a 77% contact rate and a 20.3% K rate, so the fact that he has this advantage is a huge DFS bonus. Young is batting .327 against lefties with a .565 SLG. Factor in his numbers against Chen and this matchup is built for success. DraftKings Value Pick $2,600
Chris Young (SP-KC) - On the flip side of the Minnesota KC matchup is the lanky pitcher Chris Young. Young is coming off a five inning no hit performance. In his career against Minnesota, Young has a .212 BAA, a .264 OBP, and a .410 SLG. Career stats aside, Young is 11-6 this season with a 3.15 ERA. His BABIP is .220 despite an 86.6 MPH average fastball and his WHIP is 1.09. He won't throw a complete game shutout, however, playing for the Royals always gives Young the upper hand in any matchup. DraftKings Value Pick $4,400
