Tyson Ross-Padres-SP
Tyson Ross went 7 IP and gave up 3 ER on 4H, 0 BB, and 6 K in the loss to the Rockies. Tyson Ross has been excellent once again. He has a 3.24 ERA (2.90 FIP), despite walking 4.00 BB/9. The good news is that he is striking out 9.42 K/9 and has 61% GB. He gives up a ton of weak contact, but he allows way too many base runners. He also has given up 34 SB, which is terrible. Because of his high strikeouts and heavy groundball rates, he will remain a dominant starting pitcher.
Jaime Garcia-Cardinals-SP
Jaime Garcia went 4.1 IP and gave up 6 ER on 6 H, 4 BB, and 2 K in the loss to the Reds. Jaime Garcia is the model of being injury prone, but when he is the on the mound he has been dominant. He has a 2.33 ERA (2.92 FIP) through 16 starts this year. His 6.57 K/9 is a bit light, but matched with his 64% GB rate and you have a pitcher that limits base runners and gives up a ton of soft contact. As long as Garcia is healthy, he will be a fantastic fantasy option going forward for the best team in baseball.
Jorge de la Rosa-Rockies-SP
Jorge de la Rosa went 5 IP and gave up 3 ER on 6 H, 3 BB, and 6 K in the win against the Padres. Jorge de la Rosa has put together a pretty good year for someone pitching half their games in Coors. He has a 4.28 ERA (4.14 FIP), 8.14 K/9, but his 4.04 BB/9 is concerning. He has posted a 3.22 ERA on the road and should be streamed when pitching on the road going forward. As far as next year is concerned, it is hard to confidently roster a pitcher from the Rockies.
DFS Value Plays of the Day
Brandon Crawford-Giants-SS
Shortstop is once again an ugly position and when you can get a SS with the platoon advantage, you have to take advantage. Crawford has posted a .311 wOBA and .160 ISO over the past three years, but has shown growth this season and has posted a .342 wOBA and .226 ISO against RHP. Andrew Cashner has given up a .379 wOBA to LHB. DraftKings Value: $3,300
Scott Van Slyke-Dodgers-OF
Scott Van Slyke has a three-year average of .379 wOBA and .239 ISO against LHP. He gets to face LHP Robbie Ray, who has given up a .324 wOBA to RHB. Chase Field is a great park for hitters and at his low price, SVS is a great value play. DraftKings Value: $2,800
