DFS Picks:
Nathan Eovaldi (SP-NYY) - Nathan Eovaldi is an automatic win. On Saturday Eovaldi and the Yankees will host the Rays. At home, Eovaldi is 5-0 with a 3.08 ERA and a .239 BAA. Despite the small dimensions of Yankee Stadium, Eovaldi has held hitters to a 0.62 HR/9. Part of this is due to his 2.11 GB/FB ratio, and the other part is due to his 96.7 MPH fastball. With a fastball this hard, hitters can't react quickly enough to elevate the ball. Even so, they still hit Eovaldi hard occasionally. Luckily for Eovaldi he has a 6.08 run support. For this reason, beating him is nearly impossible. DraftKings Value Pick $7,300
Derek Holland (SP-TEX) - Be ready to pull the trigger on Derek Holland in DFS leagues. Holland and the red hot Rangers are slated to take on Jered Weaver and the ice cold Angels. Coming off a complete game shutout, Holland will look to improve his 2-1 record. So far he has a 2.82 ERA and an 8.06 K/9. He's been so accurate that his BB/9 is 0.403. This would be much higher if Holland was healthy all season, but still, it's an incredible feat. DraftKings Value Pick $7,200
Lance McCullers (SP-HOU) - This is an easy opportunity to make a killing. At home, Lance McCullers is 4-0 with a 1.65 ERA, but you wouldn't know that if you just looked at his 3.21 ERA. Based on these numbers, it's obvious that McCullers struggles on the road. Away from Houston his ERA is 5.09. Luckily for DFS users McCullers will be at home against the Twins on Saturday. Currently, Minnesota owns baseball's lowest BAA on the road (.230). Factor in McCuller's 9.33 K/9 and you have a winner. DraftKings Value Pick $9,200
Stack of the Day Indians vs Alfredo Simon:
Plain and simple Alfredo Simon cannot pitch. This season Simon has a 5.09 ERA and a 1.2 HR/9 in 146.2 IP. The source for a lot of his troubles stems from his inability to get lefties out. Right now lefties have 12 home runs and a .296 BAA Simon. Out of the 374 lefties he has faced this season, Simon has struck out 46 and given up 42 XBHs. With Jason Kipnis, Francisco Lindor, Michael Brantley, and Carlos Santana batting 1-4, Simon doesn't stand a chance.
Great Performance:
Josh Tomlin (SP-CLE) - When you throw a complete game and only allow one run to the Tigers, you know you pitched well. On Friday night this was Josh Tomlin's story. In his fifth start of the season, Tomlin went the whole nine yards and gave up just four hits and one walk to one of baseball's top offenses. With five games under his belt, Tomlin has pitched well. He's 4-1 and gave up just two runs in 6.1 innings in his lone loss. Through 35.1 innings, Tomlin has a surprisingly high 8.15 K/9. Considering his career 5.8 K/9, this is rather impressive. Tomlin's recent success can be attributed to his .186 BABIP and 0.71 WHIP. Pretty much no one has been able to reach base on him. With Tomlin cruising and the Indians playing better baseball, Tomlin is definitely worth the pick up.
