DFS Picks:
Drew Hutchison (SP-TOR) - Drew Hutchison is unbeatable at home. This season Hutchison is 11-1 with a 2.46 ERA at Rogers Centre. He also has a .226 BAA and a 7.90 K/9. Hutchison's dominance at home warrants DFS attention for Friday's game. Hutchison and the red hot Blue Jays are slated to take on a slumping Orioles team. With Hutchison pitching like a Cy Young winner at home and the Orioles struggling to win ball games, you shouldn't ignore this matchup. DraftKings Value Pick $7,100
Brian McCann (C-NYY) - Brian McCann's splits against Jake Odorizzi are unreal. In 16 at bats McCann has six XBHs, nine RBIs, and only one strikeout. His .625 AVG and 1.960 OPS are impossible to pass on. Given that the Yankees will be at home, McCann's DFS value is even greater. At Yankee Stadium McCann's AVG is 58 points higher. He also has five more home runs in 25 fewer at bats. McCann's DFS price isn't cheap by any means, but based on his career against Odorizzi he's well worth it. DraftKings Pick $4,000
Collin McHugh (SP-HOU) - One of the more underrated DFS pitchers is Collin McHugh. Over his last five starts McHugh has only surrendered seven runs. This has helped lower his ERA to 3.92. In addition to his 1.89 ERA in August McHugh posted a 9.18 K/9. He also held batters to a .216 BAA. McHugh and the Astros are set to take on Mike Pelfrey and the Twins on Friday. This season Pelfrey has a .294 BAA and a 5.59 road ERA. With the odds in his favor including Minnesota's major league low .230 road BAA, McHugh makes a great DFS pick. DraftKings Value Pick $9,100
September Call Ups to Watch For:
Jett Bandy (C-LAA) - Right now the Angels are ice cold and their playoff chances are diminishing every day. The only thing that can save them is a strong core of September call-ups. At the top of that list is catcher Jett Bandy. In Triple-A Bandy is hitting .291 with a .347 OBP. His 11 home runs and 60 RBI in 309 at bats exceed the numbers of Chris Iannetta and Carlos Perez combined. With little reputation to his name Bandy will be an easy waiver wire steal. Considering the lack catchers that can hit, Bandy will be a fantasy gem.
Blake Snell (SP-TB) - Pitchers with a 1.33 ERA and a 14-4 record in Double-A usually get called up. That's why Blake Snell should get a crack at the big leagues. In 129 innings Snell has a .176 BAA. If he could cut down on his 3.49 BB/9 then his 0.99 WHIP would drop to a record breaking level. As he continues to gain experience Snell's control will improve. He probably won't be a star right away, but based on his 10.95 K/9 he shouldn't have trouble missing bats.
