DFS Picks:
Best Pick:
Carlos Carrasco (SP-CLE) - If you need a sure thing then Carlos Carrasco is your guy. Over his last ten starts Carrasco has thrown eight or more innings five times. In three of those five outings he allowed two hits or fewer. Carrasco's fantasy dominance stems from his 1.75 BB/9 and 9.67 K/9. With numbers like these, Carrasco is a dynamite pick against anyone. FanDuel Pick $10,000
High Risk High Reward:
Drew Hutchison (SP-TOR) - Given that the Yankees offense has been in a rut, Drew Hutchison makes a great DFS pick. This season Hutchison is 11-2 with a 5.26 ERA. Normally you would want to avoid someone with an ERA this high, but not Hutchison. Hutchison's bloated ERA is the result of a shocking 9.00 road ERA, and a miniscule 2.68 home ERA. Luckily for DFS players, Hutchison will be at home on Sunday. At Rogers Centre Hutchison averages 6.16 IP/start and 7.91 K/9. Additionally, his 9-1 home record is absolutely incredible and will get a boost due to the Blue Jays recent dominance. FanDuel Value Pick $8,500
Other Picks:
Danny Valencia (1B, 3B, OF) - It's time to bring Danny Valencia on board. All season long Valencia has raked. In his time with the Blue Jays Valencia hit .296 with nine home runs in 162 at bats. Since moving to the A's he's hitting .294 with three home runs. As far as Sabermetrics go, Valencia has a .353 BABIP and a .235 ISO. In Oakland his ISO will go down, but his offensive production should rise in a full time role. Throw in his multiple position eligibility and Valencia is the full package.
Side Note:
Valencia has extreme DFS value on Sunday against Wei-Yin Chen. This season Valencia is hitting .314 with an .849 OPS against lefties. His opposition Chen has allowed 20 home runs to righties and has given up 15 of his 23 dingers at home. FanDuel Value Pick $3,300
Fantasy Pick Ups:
Chris Bassitt (SP-OAK) - Pitchers in Oakland are bound to succeed. The most recent Athletics starter to blossom into a nice fantasy pitcher is Chris Bassitt. This season Bassitt has started eight games and is yet to allow more than three runs in an appearance. Bassitt's success has been due to his .208 BAA and 1.01 WHIP. These factors have contributed to his 77.8% strand rate and 3.46 FIP. Along with Bassitt's ability to limit damage is his fair strikeout rate and reasonable walk rate. Currently, Bassitt averages 7.22 K/9 and 2.45 BB/9. As long as he continues this consistency in the Coliseum Bassitt will be a fantasy stud.
Jackie Bradley Jr. (OF-BOS) - Did you know that Jackie Bradley Jr. was hitting .109 last week? Since then his AVG has risen .141 points. On Saturday Bradley put up one of the top performances of the season. In a 22-10 slugfest Bradley went 5 for 6 with five runs scored, two home runs, and seven RBIs. This huge day at the plate drove Bradley's AVG up .47 points. It also doubled his RBI total for August. As the nine hitter in an average lineup Bradley loses a lot of fantasy value. However, there is reason to believe that the 25-year-old sophomore will be batting higher than ninth in the days to come. Currently, Bradley is riding a hot streak that includes 13 runs, 14 hits, and 11 RBIs over his last seven games. During this stretch he has nine extra base hits including the five he had on Saturday. If there was ever a time to give Bradley a chance, it would be now. He's hotter than fire and streaking toward a player of the week award.
