Lorenzo Cain - Lorenzo Cain is showing no signs of slowing down on his breakout 2015 season with a 4-for-4 effort Tuesday including his 12th homer of the season. Cain is in the middle of a small hot streak, picking up hits in five straight games (multi-hit in 4-of-5) and he's driven in a run in four straight as well. With how good he's been, his .351 BABIP still isn't even a career high but his 32.6% hard hit rate absolutely is. His fly ball rate is just over his previous career high in 2012 at 31.6%. He's hitting in the heart of the lineup on one of the best teams in baseball, keep rolling him out there.
Robinson Cano - Robinson Cano's second half surge continues with a 3-for-5 game Tuesday, as his average continues to climb and now sits at .268. His wRC+ is also up to 104 so he's official better than league average!!.... He still can't hit lefties this year (.231 average) but his second half numbers are extremely encouraging. He's hitting .313 in the second half with six homers with matches his first half numbers in 65 fewer games. His batted ball numbers all are around the same marks in the first half to second, but he's seeing a 20 point boost to his BABIP in the second half.
Carlos Rodon - Carlos Rodon showed us Tuesday at what peak Carlos Rodon could be. He shut out the Angels over 7.0 innings with 11 strikeouts against just one walk. Rodon has been striking out batters at great pace with 101 in 91.2 innings, but the walks are what are holding him back from really being owned across the board. In those same 91.2 innings he has 51 walks (5.01/9). His FIP is a 3.72 and he's been a league average pitcher (102 xFIP-) even with his terrible outings mixed in.
Chris Tillman - Chris Tillman got roughed up by the Mariners and couldn't make it out of the third allowing 8 hits and five runs. Tillman has struggling mightily seeing his ERA jump a full run from 2014 to 2015, but his FIP is right in the same ballpark between the two seasons (.01 difference before Tuesday's start). Oddly enough, Tillman's hart hit rate is 6% lower than last season but his BABIP against is up .30 points compared to last season. He's not an ace but there's enough here to warrant giving him another start before cutting ties if you own him.
Prince Fielder - Prince Fielder has had an excellent year and he faces his personal BP pitcher in Mike Pelfrey Wednesday. He has 10 hits in 28 at bats against Pelfrey with three homers and 12 RBI. $3,900 is a great value for Wednesday as he's well below the top options in terms of price, but not in production.
