Michael Brantley, OF, CLE
After a solid first half of the season, Brantley has picked it up a notch since the all-star break, slashing .390/.474/.610 thus far in the second half. He isn't on pace to match his numbers from last year in any of the standard fantasy categories, but he should come pretty close in all of them. Since the start of 2014, Brantley is the only player to have hit over .300 with 20+ HR's and 30+ SB's, and it looks like he could make a run at the AL batting title.
Chris Davis, 1B, OF, BAL
Is Chris Davis hot or is Chris Davis hot? Boy, I am glad he's on some of my fantasy teams. Davis hit his 30th HR on Monday and now has a whopping 11 HR's and 29 RBI over his last 19 games. The 50+ HR's that he hit 2 years ago may never happen again, but those who took a chance on the slugger who hit .196 last year are certainly happy with the production he's given them.
Jean Machi, RP, BOS
It's possible that Machi could begin getting some save opportunities for the Red Sox now that Koji Uehara is out for the season. However, his mediocre 27:16 K:BB ratio through 38.2 IP as well as his 5.35 ERA aren't exactly fit for a closer or for a fantasy team member. Being that he is unlikely to help your ratios, Machi would only be worth rostering if he was given the full-time closer gig in Boston.
Junichi Tazawa, RP, BOS
Tazawa would have been the natural choice to take over the closer role in Boston. However, John Farrell said recently that the Red Sox would limit Tazawa's usage down the stretch, and that certainly doesn't make me think that he's about to be anointed as the team's new closer. Tazawa has pitched well again for the Red Sox this year with a 3.19 ERA and a 48:7 K:BB ratio through 48 IP. At this point though, I don't know if you can rely on him for a significant number of saves.
Xander Boegarts, SS, BOS
Boegarts has been crushing southpaws all season long with a .390/.429/.505 slash line against them and on Tuesday he'll get to face Marlins' rookie LHP Justin Nicolino. In two big league appearances so far, Nicolino has faced 31 RH-hitters and has not struck any of them out. At the same time, Boegarts has been sizzling since the beginning of July to the tune of a .353 BA. He would seem like a very good choice at SS on Tuesday. Value Play FanDuel Salary: $3,300.
