Marco Estrada-Blue Jays-SP
Marco Estrada went 6.1 IP and gave up 0 ER on 3 H, 3 BB, and 6 K in the win to the Yankees. Estrada has continued to defy logic, that a flyball/HR prone pitcher could succeed in the Rogers Centre. Estrada now has a 3.21 ERA over 117.2 IP. His BABIP should be low due to the fact that he is a fly ball pitcher, but it is lower than any point in his career. His HR/FB is at an all time low as well. What this suggests for the future is that his luck is running thin and all it takes is for a couple of those FB to go over the fence and things could go south real quick. His SIERA projection suggests he can't sustain those numbers either (4.35 SIERA).
Henry Owens-Red Sox-SP
Henry Owens went 5 IP and gave up 1 ER on 3 H, 4 BB, and 2 K in the win against the Tigers. Henry Owens has been one of the Red Sox better pitching prospects for the past couple of years. He was passed up by Eduardo Rodriguez this year, but he still has plenty of potential. The main concern with Owens is control. Today he walked four over 5 IP and at Triple-A he walked 4.12 BB/9. He doesn't have elite strikeout numbers (7.58 K/9 at AAA), so the walks are really going to hurt him at the major league level. He isn't much of a fantasy option at this point.
Chris Bassitt-Athletics-SP
Chris Bassitt went 6.2 IP and gave up 1 ER on 3 H, 2 BB, and 10 K in the win against the Astros. Bassitt since entering the Athletics rotation has not given up more than 3 ER and he has a 2.43 K/BB. Bassitt has seen a 1mph increase on his fastball, which has benefited him greatly. The 10 strikeouts are an outlier and not something to expect going forward. His 7% SwStr is below average and he has never been a strikeout guy. Bassitt however, is useful when pitching at home in the spacious Coliseum.
Masahiro Tanaka-Yankees-SP
Masahiro Tanaka went 6 IP and gave up 2 ER on 3 H, 0 BB, and 5 K in the loss to the Blue Jays. Tanaka only gave up 3 hits, but two were bombs to Donaldson and Bautista. Tanaka continues to be plagued by the long ball, as he has given up 18 HR on the season. Everything looks in line from a year ago, except the fact that he is giving up 6% more FB, which has led to the HR problem rearing its head. The fact that he hasn't blown out his elbow yet, has had to be a huge win for owners who took the risk drafting him. SIERA suggests a 3.33 the rest of the way, which is more in line with his talent, than his season stats.
DFS Plays of the Day

Scott Van Slyke is a lefty masher. He has a three-year average of .399 wOBA, 160 wRC+, and .244 ISO verse southpaws. He usually hits in the middle of the order and provides significant value for his price when facing a lefty like Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez has given up a .329 wOBA and 29% hard contact to RHB this season. DraftKings Value: $2,600
