DFS Picks:
Kendall Graveman (SP-OAK) - Kendall Graveman has been absolutely spectacular since returning from the minor leagues. His ERA has dropped 5.11 points, and his innings total is on the rise. Since his call up on May 23rd, Graveman is 5-2 with a 1.78 ERA. On Friday Graveman will face the Indians on the road. Away from Oakland Graveman is 4-1 with a 1.91 ERA, a .255 BAA, and a 0.43 HR/9. He has quality starts in eight of his last nine outings, and is yet to surrender more than three earned runs in a game since his promotion in May. FanDuel Value Pick $5,400
Mike Montgomery (SP-SEA) - Mike Montgomery is on his way to becoming a household name in DFS leagues. Montgomery has wins in four of his last five starts, and quality starts in six of his last seven outings. On Friday Montgomery will face the Angels in Seattle. This season LA has an unimpressive .241 AVG and .316 OBP against lefties. If you take into consideration Safeco Field's below average park factors in runs, home runs, and hits, then Montgomery gets an added boost. Montgomery's biggest asset is his .184 BAA righties, which LA has plenty of. He also has a .214 BAA lefties, so there is no reason to worry about an opposing stack. FanDuel Value Pick $7,800
Best Pick:
Josh Donaldson (3B-TOR) - Josh Donaldson against any lefty is money in the bank. This season, Donaldson is hitting .356 vs. lefties with a .699 SLG. He has six home runs in 73 at bats and 13 of his 26 hits have gone for extra bases. Donaldson is a bit pricey, but the return on him should enough to justify the decision. On the pitching end of this matchup is Danny Duffy. Duffy's 5.14 ERA, .297 BAA, and 1.59 WHIP are an explosion waiting to happen. The Blue Jays will feast on Duffy's .335 BABIP, therefore Donaldson is sure to get plenty of at bats and should hit with runners on base. FanDuel Pick $5,100
Heating Up:
Melky Cabrera (OF-CHW) - What has gotten into Melky Cabrera lately? He has hits in nine of his last ten games, and home runs in three of his last 37 at bats. Cabrera's third home run during this stretch came against R.A. Dickey on Thursday. He finished the game 1 for 4, but his home run helped Jeff Samardzija pick up his sixth win of the season. With Cabrera's AVG up to .263, DFS attention is deserved. Lately he's been batting third with Jose Abreu hitting second, and has produced nicely. Cabrera is averaging almost and RBI per game in his last ten starts, and is finally finding the gaps with his line drives.
Nick Castellanos (3B-DET) - Nick Castellanos is starting to turn things around. At the end of June, Castellanos was hitting .233. He went 0 for 3 on Thursday, but is still hitting .344 in July. Thursday marked the first time all month that Castellanos went a game without getting a hit. So far in July he has two home runs, six runs scored, and 10 RBIs in 32 at bats. With Miggy out, Castellanos is batting sixth and his stock is as high as it has been all season.
