DFS Picks:
Kyle Gibson (SP-MIN) - Kyle Gibson comes at a DFS discount due to his consecutive six run outings. Unlike Gibson's previous two opponents (NYY and LAA), the Mariners do not have a dangerous offense. This season Seattle is averaging 3.71 runs per game away from Safeco Field. Their 61 home runs on the road have anchored the offense. Unfortunately for Seattle, Kyle Gibson has a 2.61 GB/FB ratio. This high GB rate will neutralize Seattle's power. In addition to being a ground ball pitcher, Gibson has a respectable 3.18 ERA and 6.78 K/9 at home. He probably won't throw a complete game shutout, but a seven inning, two run, six strikeout performance could easily fall into his lap. DraftKings Value Pick $7,000
Preston Tucker (OF-HOU) - Preston Tucker has found his home run stroke. This is sure to help him against the homer prone Jeremy Hellickson on Saturday night. Over his last 10 games, Tucker has five home runs. During this stretch he also has eight runs scored, two doubles, and seven RBIs. Due to his recent power surge, Tucker makes a great DFS matchup against Hellickson. Hellickson is averaging 1.2 HR/9, which has contributed to his bloated 4.60 ERA. Obviously it's tough to predict home runs, but a pitcher's imminent bad outing is easier to foresee. On the road Hellickson has a 5.26 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. Houston has the fourth highest scoring offense in baseball and averages 4.54 runs/game at home. This is important because it means Tucker is more likely to score/drive in runs. Therefore, even if Tucker doesn't mash a home run, his DFS point total shouldn't hit rock bottom. DraftKings Value Pick $3,700
Giovanny Urshela (3B-CLE) - If you need a cheap DFS solution then Giovanny Urshela is your guy. On Friday night, Urshela ended his nine game hit streak. Before Friday, Urshela's previous nine games included two multi-hit performances, three runs scored, three RBIs, and four extra base hits. Part of the reason Urshela's price tag is so affordable price is because he hits towards the bottom of the lineup. Normally this is a DFS turnoff, but considering Urshela's recent productivity you should ignore his spot in the batting order. DraftKings Value Pick $2,500
Top Pick:
Brain Dozier (2B-MIN) - When a lefty is pitching, Brian Dozier is hitting. On Saturday Dozier and the Twins will go up against Mike Montgomery and the Seattle Mariners. In the month of July, Montgomery was ice cold posting a 5.88 ERA and a .294 BAA. His respectable 1.98 BB/9 in June ballooned to a 4.91 BB/9 in July. Dozier, who has a .546 SLG and .911 OPS against lefties is sure to give Montgomery a tough time. This season Dozier has 33 hits in 119 at bats against lefties. Of those 33 hits, 18 have gone for extra bases. On top of Dozier's power, he also has 16 walks against lefties. Considering Montgomery's recent lack of control, it's not far fetched to think Dozier will reach once via the walk. Overall, this matchup heavily favors Dozier. He might not shoot the moon, but don't be surprised if he has a great day. DraftKings Pick $4,900
Fantasy Adds:
Ben Revere (OF-TOR) - Stop the madness! Ben Revere to the Blue Jays! Can this lineup get any better? This season Revere has a .298 AVG with 49 runs scored and 24 stolen bases. In the month of July he is hitting .344 with a .373 OBP. His 90% contact rate and .328 BABIP are sure to be an asset against the weak AL East pitching. As a member of the Blue Jays Revere will have plenty of chances to score runs, steal bases, and drive in RBIs. Normally, his stats aren't high enough to earn add drop consideration. However, the potential spike in his runs and RBIs makes Revere a must own.
Alex Wilson (RP-DET) - Joakim Soria's trade opened the door for Alex Wilson to close in Detroit. Wilson took advantage of this opportunity by collecting his first big league save on Thursday. In the appearance, Wilson threw 1.2 innings, struck out one, and had a 5:0 GB/FB ratio. Since Detroit's bullpen has been so terrible this season, it's not a surprise that Wilson will be closing. Currently, Wilson's 1.79 ERA is by far the best amongst Tiger relievers. So is his 0.96 WHIP. If you need a closer, then Wilson is one of few guys still on the market. He has been effective and consistent, so give him a chance.
