Carlos Correa (SS-HOU): The Astros, lead by rookie sensation Carlos Correa's 6th homer, dropped a 12-spot on the Red Sox. What an incredible start it has been for one of the game's top prospects; can it continue? His 3:20 BB:K ratio suggests that some adjustments are in order; however, his 105 MPH avg. speed off bat on his homers and his 8% swinging strike rate suggest that his bat and approach are advanced well beyond his years and capable of weathering any adjustment period.
Lorenzo Cain (OF-KC): Cain filled up the stat sheet last night, going 3 for 4 with 2 runs, 1 RBI, 1 BB, and 1 SB. After years of tantalizing us, Cain is finally breaking out; he is improving his BB and K rates (resulting in a .15 improvement in EYE), his hard-hit percentage is up 9%, and his swinging strike rate is down 2%. His .405 wOBA against lefties makes him a great DFS option when the matchups dictate, as his price tag normally lags well behind the elite options.
Mark Teixeira (1B-NYY): Teixeira went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI, hitting his 20th home run in the process. While Tex has cut down his K-rate to 15%, and looks healthy and invigorated, his 101.5 MPH speed off bat and 386.5 avg. distance on his homers portend regression to his 23% HR/FB rate. The good news is that he plays in a great park for lefties that love to pull--as he's hit 14 homers as a lefty--so that should mitigate some of the pending regression.
Ubaldo Jimenez (SP-BAL): Ubaldo continued his surprising 2015 with another 1-ER, 7-inning performance, but lost the duel to John Danks. But can we trust him? Surprisingly, I see him as a must-own. He is posting the lowest BB-rate of his career (7%) and his second-highest K-rate (24%), so this looks to be for real. However, I only see him a must start when the matchups are right, especially while operating at home (.237 wOBA allowed).
Anthony Gose (OF-DET): Gose, who was 12 for 71 in June, broke out a slump out by posting a 2-for-3, 1-run-1-RBI, 1-BB night. Brad Ausmus has relegated Gose to the bottom of the lineup and has even given Rajai Davis the nod against some righties. He'll have to improve upon the 6% BB-rate and 25% K-rate to maintain the amount of playing time needed for mixed-league relevance; the underlying numbers suggest that he's worth holding onto.
