DFS Picks:
Jeff Baker (2B-MIA) - Jeff Baker is a righty specialist with tons of pop. It's a good thing Jorge De La Rosa is starting on Sunday, because that means you can pencil Baker into your DFS lineup. Although he usually plays first, Baker is considered a second baseman on DFS sites. Due to his lack of playing time, Baker can be purchased at a humongous discount. In his career against lefties, Baker has a .299 AVG and a 22.58 AB/HR ratio. He hits for extra bases once every 8.28 at bats, and has a 7.67 BB%. This season, Baker has a .290 BABIP and a .224 ISO. If he puts the ball in play, he could reward your DFS team nicely. FanDuel Value Pick $2,600
Mike Bolsinger (SP-LAD) - Mike Bolsinger is having a breakout season. After throwing seven innings of three hit baseball against the Diamondbacks last weekend, Bolsinger proved that he could contain any offense. On Sunday, Bolsinger will have an enticing DFS matchup against the Padres at Petco Park. In his only start against the Padres this season Bolsinger threw eight innings, struck out eight, and allowed just one hit. Sometimes, pitchers aren't as effective the second time around, but either way Bolsinger should be fine. His 2.32 GB/FB ratio, 0.4 HR/9, and 1.02 WHIP should all come in handy. As far as strikeouts are concerned, Bolsinger averages 7.48 K/9. This may seem a smidge low, but the Padres 8.35 K/9 ranks third highest in the MLB. If this doesn't give Bolsinger a DFS boost, then I don't know does. FanDuel Value Pick $6,400
Dan Haren (SP-MIA) - It's no secret that the Rockies struggle to hit away from Coors Field. So far, they have only averaged 3.55 runs per game on the road. For a fly ball team like Colorado, playing in Marlins Park is a nightmare. This is why fly ball pitcher Dan Haren should be able to contain the Rockies on Sunday. Haren's 1.17 FB/GB ratio should play well against Colorado's 1.15 FB/GB ratio. Additionally, Haren sports a 1.96 ERA at home. As long as Haren can keep the ball out of the bleachers, the Rockies have no chance. FanDuel Value Pick $8,000
Fantasy Pick Ups:
Tyler Lyons (SP-STL) - Tyler Lyons picked up his first win since 2013 on Saturday. Lyons and the Cardinals snuck by with a 3-2 win against the Royals. In five innings, Lyons struck out six and allowed two earned runs. He was pulled from the game after 79 pitches, 57 of which were for strikes. With Adam Wainwright and Lance Lynn on the DL, Lyons' playing time is sure to spike. He has a 5.00 ERA and .280 BAA, but is yet to allow more than three earned runs in a start. Due to the Cardinals .661 win percentage, Lyons is worth a shot in DFS leagues. Through four starts he has an 11.5 K/9, and is bound to pick up plenty of wins.
Joe Ross (SP-WAS) - All the injuries to Washington's starting pitchers has caused Joe Ross' fantasy value to rise quickly. In his second major league start, Ross threw eight innings of two run baseball and struck out eight. This helped him to pick up his first big league win. Much like his brother Tyson, Joe is a heavy sinker slider pitcher. His average 93.2 MPH fastball, and one walk in 13 innings is exactly what the Nats need right now. Before his call up, Ross was 2-2 with a 2.81 ERA. In 51.1 IP, his WHIP was 1.13, and his BB/9 was 2.10. With Steven Strasburg and Doug Fister on the DL, Ross is a must have in fantasy leagues. He has the makings of a dominant pitcher, and still has another start or two before the Nats regulars return.
