Cody Anderson, SP, CLE
Anderson was excellent again for the Indians again on Monday, allowing only 1 ER on 2 hits in 8 IP. His 0.57 ERA through two big league starts is likely good enough to keep him in Cleveland's rotation, but it shouldn't be enough to get him into your fantasy rotation. 6 K's in 15.2 IP is not exactly impressive, even if it is accompanied by only 1 BB. His 3.94 xFIP thus far is not bad, but he will have to up the strikeout rate to become fantasy relevant.
Mitch Moreland, 1B, TEX
Moreland continued what has been a career year on Monday, hitting two HR's and driving in 3 in a win over the Orioles. With 12 HR's and 39 RBI on the season, his career highs of 23 and 60 are well within reach. His .300 BA however does not seem as sustainable, as his K% is right in line with the last couple seasons, and his .342 BABIP is a lot higher than what we've ever seen from him before (career .291 BABIP). Moreland's .258 AVG is probably a more realistic expectation going forward, which makes him more of a borderline fantasy 1st-baseman rather than a must-own.
Josh Reddick, OF, OAK
Reddick hit his 11th homerun of the season on Monday, his first since June 12th. He had been scuffling a little bit the last couple weeks, hitting .192 with only 1 XBH in his last 12 games. But before you get nervous and assume that his early hot streak was a mirage, realize that even during this slump he has only struck out 4 times in 53 PA's. Reddick's improvements are real, as he has incredibly cut down his K% from 15.9% to 9.5% this season - and that's after improving his K% around 3% each of the previous two seasons. This is not a case of a player having a fluky good start and then crashing back to earth. Reddick has become a very good player, who like everyone else, will go through the ups and downs of a long season.
Jon Singleton, 1B, HOU
After going 0-4 with 3 strikeouts in his seasonal debut with the Astros, Singelton went 1-2 with a 2B, 2 BB's and a 1 K in his second game with the big league club. He already had 17 HR's and a ridiculous 66 RBI in 70 games in AAA before the call-up, and there's no reason to think the power won't continue to be there as long as he remains in the lineup. The question is how much he will hurt your team's BA. After striking out 37% of the time in his stint with the Astros last season, he cut his K% to 20.1% in AAA this year, and his BA rose correspondingly from .168 to .280. However, it's worth noting that Singelton had a 21.8% K% in AAA before his call-up in 2014, and it didn't translate at the higher level, so there's no guarantee that it will this time. If you need immediate power help, Singelton could be worth a flier, but be prepared for a drain in BA.
George Springer, OF, HOU
Springer has dominated LHP this season and has compiled a .913 OPS against them. This bodes well for him in his matchup against the left-handed Danny Duffy, who has allowed an .848 OPS and has compiled a very unimpressive 27:17 K:BB rate against right-handed hitters this year. For Springer's potential, he comes at a very reasonable price. Value Play DraftKings Salary: $4,300.
