DFS Picks:
Brandon Belt (1B-SFG) - Brandon Belt is a great candidate to hit for extra bases against Kyle Lohse on Monday night. This season, Lohse has been anything but effective at home. In 26.2 IP at Miller Park, Lohse has allowed six home runs and 21 earned runs. Cue Brandon Belt, who has been hitting the daylights out of the ball. Belt is hitting .346 against righties this season, and has 77 extra base hits against righties over the past three seasons. Belt's attempt for extra bases should be aided by Miller Park's top ten park factors in runs, hits, doubles, and home runs. If that doesn't help, Lohse's 0.92 GO/FB ratio should. Miller Park isn't exactly a big ballpark. If Belt puts one in the air, the bleachers could see some action. FanDuel Value Pick $3,600
Angel Pagan (CF-SFG) - I love a stack against Kyle Lohse on Monday night. As previously mentioned (in the Brandon Belt section), Lohse has been smacked around at Miller Park. This makes Angel Pagan a force to be reckoned with. Pagan is currently hitting .311 with a .377 BABIP. Due to Lohse's low 7.04 K/9, Pagan's BABIP becomes even more dangerous. In his career against Lohse, Pagan is 6 for 14 with five RBIs and a stolen base. Since Pagan normally bats third, he'll have a good chance to add to this RBI total. Additionally, he'll see some good pitches to hit since Buster Posey protects him in the order. FanDuel Value Pick $2,500
David Phelps (SP-MIA) - David Phelps has a gigantic DFS upside. All you have to do is look at his 3.21 ERA and 1.31 WHIP to get the idea. With the exception of his first outing, Phelps has only allowed more than two earned runs once this season. Before his last game against the Dbacks, Phelps had put together a streak of five quality starts. On Monday night, Phelps will try to begin a new streak against the Pirates. Currently, Pittsburgh is the sixth lowest scoring team in the MLB, and they strike out about eight times a game. Phelps isn't a high strikeout pitcher, but he's no stranger to the punch-out. Just one start ago, Phelps struck out eight Braves in six innings. This is quite impressive since the Braves strikeout less than any team in the N.L. Phelps is a good candidate to put together a quality start. He'll probably pitch six innings and allow two earned runs with three or four Ks. My concern is that Miami won't score for him. This makes Phelps a risky play. However, if Phelps can pull out a win, he'll be well worth his DFS price tag. FanDuel Value Pick $6,900
Waiver Wire Adds:
Cameron Maybin (CF-ATL) - Cameron Maybin continues to have a big impact in the Braves lineup. Over his last nine games, Maybin is 11 for 30 with five walks, six RBIs, and three stolen bases. To top it off, he is currently on a nine game hitting streak. Overall, Maybin is the full package. He has four home runs, 18 RBIs, six stolen bases, and a .257 AVG, which is on the rise. With the Braves struggling to score in recent games, Maybin will see more time at the top of the order. On Sunday he batted second, and will likely remain in the two whole until he cools off. Since Maybin is playing some of the best baseball of his life, he's worth waiver wire consideration. If you hold onto him, there's a good chance he'll produce a 15-20 season.
AJ Ramos (RP-MIA) - AJ Ramos picked up his second save of the season on Sunday. Ramos pitched a scoreless inning to improve his ERA to 0.78. With Steve Cishek officially out as the closer, Ramos will be seeing plenty of action in the ninth. This means it's time to hit the waiver wire. Ramos averages 11.45 K/9 while maintaining a 0.70 WHIP. Also, he has a .209 BABIP. If that doesn't display of dominance, then I don't know what does.
