Matt Harvey, New York Mets - The Pirates tagged Matt Harvey seven runs over four innings in the worst start of the righties career. He allowed eight baserunners, two walks and six hits, and surrendered two homers. Obviously we have nothing to worry about here with Harvey, he's in the conversations for the best starter in baseball and his peripherals are exactly in line with his dominant 2013 half season. His hard contact rates are the exact same, and he's even improved at stranding runner to 2013 as well.
Stephen Strasburg, Washington Nationals - Stephen Strasburg got through ha few innings against the Phillies before they tagged for five earned as he took his fifth loss of the season. As the peripherals besides BABIP look good for Stras besides BABIP, so you kind of wonder if something is going on here. He's allowing his lowest levels of hard contact that he has in two season, so it's a shame that the Nationals' defense is holding him back from what he is capable of.
Shelby Miller, Atlanta Braves - Well Miller didn't take a no hitter to the ninth this time out, but he did pitch well enough to get a quality start but ultimately earned a no decision. His FIP still sits at an excellent 3.22 over 6.0 innings as he's been one of the best values in all off fantasy this season. A lot of Miller's success this season can be attributed to his cutter usage jumping 14%.
Mike Bolsinger, Los Angeles Dodgers - Mike Bolsinger allowed a single in the first before proceeding to to retire the next 23 batters he faced. He finished with 8 shutout innings and eight strikeouts while keeping his record flawless at 3-and-0. I'm looking for him in my leagues I'm in, I think you should as well. He won't keep up this crazy high level of success as he currently owns just a .210 BABIP and is stranding 96.9% of the runners that reach base.
Jordan Lyles, Colorado Rockies - Lyles left his last start with a sprained toe and right now is day-to-day as they figure out the extent of the injury. Could this mean we see Jon Gray in the big leagues? I'm not thinking so, the rotations don't line up and Gray hasn't exactly been pitching well in AAA. If Gray were to get the call, he's worth a look in leagues with his high strikeout rates but no one else who could get the call really is worth adding prior to a first start.
